Manawatu Jets
The Manawatu Jets are a New Zealand basketball team based in Palmerston North. The Jets compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at Central Energy Trust Arena. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as the Property Brokers Manawatu Jets. Team history The Palmerston North Jets were a foundation member of the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1982. After finishing eighth in the eight-team competition, the Jets were relegated to the second-tiered Conference Basketball League (CBL) in 1983. After finishing as CBL runners-up in 1984, they were promoted back into the NBL in 1985. They finished fifth in both 1985 and 1986, but after finishing tenth in the ten-team competition in 1987, the Jets were relegated to the CBL in 1988. National Basketball League (New Zealand)
The National Basketball League (NBL) is a men's semi-professional basketball league in New Zealand. In 1981, a group of club and provincial teams came together to create a men's national basketball league. The following year, the league was brought under the management of the New Zealand Basketball Federation. Nick Horvath
Nick Horvath (born February 18, 1981) is an American-New Zealand former professional basketball player who played the majority of his career in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL). In 2010, he became the first person to win an NCAA championship (2001), an ANBL championship (2009) and a NZNBL championship (2010). High school and college career Horvath attended Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, Minnesota where he led the Mustangs to state tournament appearances in 1998 and 1999, where they captured the 1999 AA State Championship. Jeremiah Trueman
Jeremiah Kloeten Trueman (born 19 May 1987) is a New Zealand former professional basketball player. Early life Trueman was born in New Plymouth and originally grew up in nearby Stratford. He joined his parents, first in Tasmania and then in Brazil, as Christian missionaries. The family arrived in South America when Trueman was seven and took over a hostel that housed a group of street kids, staying in the country for four years. In Brazil, he attended school, learnt Portuguese, and played soccer. Upon returning to New Zealand, he started playing basketball. In 2004 and 2005, Trueman attended Nelson College in Nelson and played for the school's basketball team. During those two years, he also played in the New Zealand NBL for the Nelson Giants. Joshua Michael Pace (born May 23, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player who spent the majority of his ten-year career playing in the New Zealand National Basketball League. Mika Vukona
Mika John Vukona (born 13 May 1982) is a Fijian-born New Zealand former professional basketball player. Between 2003 and 2018, he spent 13 seasons with the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian NBL and helped them win four championships. He was also a regular with the Nelson Giants in the New Zealand NBL and was a long-time New Zealand Tall Black. Early life Vukona was born in Suva, Fiji. Luke Martin (born 22 January 1981) is an Australian former professional basketball player who spent the majority of his career playing in the National Basketball League (NBL). James Paton Hunter (born 19 June 1991) is an Australian-New Zealand basketball player for the Maitland Mustangs of the NBL1 East. Early life Hunter was born in Nowra, New South Wales, but spent much of his childhood living with his grandmother in Taumarunui, New Zealand.
