Man Follows The Sun
''Man Follows the Sun'' (, Transliteration, translit. Chelovek idyot za solntsem) is a 1962 Cinema of the Soviet Union, Soviet drama film directed by Mikhail Kalik. The film follows a little boy through the megacity (Chișinău) on his pursuit to get the sun, because, as another boy tells him that going straight he will be able to get the sun, walk around the globe, and return to the place of his departure but from a different side. The world of adults and the spaces they inhabit are viewed from a child's perspective. Plot The story follows a single day in the life of a child, filled with an extraordinary range of experiences as seen through a child’s eyes. Inspired by the idea that one could walk around the Earth by following the sun and return to the same spot, Sanda sets out to test this theory. Mikhail Kalik
Mikhail Naumovich Kalik (; 27 January 1927 – 31 March 2017) was a Soviet and Israeli film director and screenwriter. Life and career A descendant of a prominent Kyiv Jewish family, Mikhail Kalik grew up in the heart of Moscow. As a teenager, he spent the war in the evacuation in Central Asia. In 1949, he was accepted into the Moscow Film School (VGIK) where he studied under Grigori Alexandrov. In 1951, during the anti-cosmopolitan campaign under Stalin, he was arrested with several other students and accused of Jewish bourgeois nationalism and planning anti-Soviet terrorist acts. A sentence of ten years detention was pronounced against him. He was sent to Lefortovo Prison, then to Ozerlag labor camp near Taishet and later to other GULAG sites. Valentina Telegina
Valentina Petrovna Telegina (; February 23, 1915 — October 4, 1979) was a Soviet and Russian actress. Biography Valentina Petrovna Telegina was born on February 23, 1915, in Novocherkassk, capital of Don Cossacks (now the Rostov Oblast). In 1937, she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts, workshop of Sergei Gerasimov. In 1937 she became an actress of Saint Petersburg Lensoviet Theatre, moving to the Baltic Fleet Theatre in 1940, until 1941. She started acting in films in 1934. She had her first big role as Motya Kotenkova in Sergei Gerasimov's film '' Komsomolsk'', released in 1938. After the war she moved to Moscow, working at the Gorky Film Studio from 1946. She aimed to embody the character of the Russian woman in all its diversity. Telegina died on October 4, 1979. She was buried in Moscow at the Mitinskoe Cemetery. Viktor Markin (actor)
Viktor Fyodorovich Markin (; born 23 February 1957 in the village of Oktyabrsky, Ust-Tarksky District, Novosibirsk Oblast ) is a former Soviet athlete, winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics. After graduating from a secondary school he went to Novosibirsk, where he entered the Faculty of Pediatrics of the Institute of Medicine. Markin started athletics only at age 19 in the athletics section by the institute, coached by Aleksandr Bukhasheyev. He remained quite unknown until the Moscow Olympic Games. On 27 April 1980, in Sochi, Markin ran a new personal best in the one lap event of 46.96 seconds. In early July Markin ran 45.34 at the Central Lenin Stadium. In the Olympic final on July 30, Markin was only fifth at the halfway mark and as the final straight opened he was still three metres behind the leader Frank Schaffer of East Germany.
