MAMA Festivals is a live music and entertainment company which owns and operates a number of live music venues and festivals in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2005, it has acquired many other venue-holding companies, expanding its reach significantly across England. The company owns six London venues and three regional venues: Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, The Forum in Kentish Town, The Garage in Islington, The Institute in Birmingham, The Ritz in Manchester, and The Arts Club in Liverpool. The venues range in capacity from 300 to 2,300. Heaven (nightclub)
Heaven is a gay superclub in Charing Cross, London, England. It has played a central role and had a major influence in the development of London's LGBT scene for over 40 years and is home to long-running gay night G-A-Y. The club is known for Paul Oakenfold's acid house events in the 1980s, the underground nightclub festival Megatripolis, and for being the birthplace of ambient house. Soundshaft also hosted Future, a regular night on Thursdays run by Paul Oakenfold. At the end of the night, both crowds would come together when the doors connecting Heaven and Future opened for the last couple of songs. Rekom UK (formerly Deltic Group & The Luminar Group Ltd.) was the UK branch of Danish multi-national nightclub operator Rekom. It operated 35 nightclubs and 12 late-night bars across the United Kingdom, including the PRYZM & ATIK brands. On 17 January 2024 Rekom UK fell into administration, blaming higher energy prices and lower student spending due to the cost of living crisis. G-A-Y is a long-running gay nightclub brand, based at the Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross, London, owned by Jeremy Joseph. G-A-Y also operates a sister gay bar on Soho's Old Compton Street, and previously operated another club at Goslett Yard, called G-A-Y Late. The G-A-Y brand is also used by a bar in Manchester's Gay Village as a franchisee. History BANG emerged onto London's Gay scene in March 1976 at the Sundown club in the basement of the London Astoria. The Borderline (music Venue)
The Borderline was a London music venue on the eastern edge of Soho at Orange Yard and Manette St, off Charing Cross Road. Hosting a variety of acts in rock and roots music, the small basement club was a foundational part of the live music scene in the West End from 1985 to 2019. History Founded by Ian Howard and John Northcote in 1985, The Borderline opened in the basement of tex mex restaurant Break for the Border, located at 127-133 Charing Cross Rd. With a small stage and a capacity for 200 to 300, the underground space soon became known for its intimate atmosphere. The Hammersmith Apollo, currently called the Eventim Apollo for sponsorship reasons, and formerly and still commonly known as the Hammersmith Odeon, is a live entertainment performance venue, originally built as a cinema called the Gaumont Palace.
