Malvern () is an inner-southern suburb of Adelaide in the City of Unley. It borders the suburbs of Unley and Parkside to the north, Highgate to the east, Kingswood to the south and Unley Park to the west. Many Malvern streets are planted with blue jacaranda, jacaranda trees, a non-native evergreen species, giving a shady aspect to the area in conjunction with the predominant architectural style of single-storey colonial Villa#Other, villas. Malverne is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 8,560 at the time of the 2020 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land. History Malverne was originally settled by the Rockaway Indians at an unknown point in history, with the current Ocean Avenue serving as an Indian path. Western settlements can be dated back to the 1700s, when the Abrams, Bedell and Pearsall families first settled and began farming the area. Norwood, as it was originally known, formed a movement to become an incorporated village in the early 1920s. Sheffield (formerly Malvern) is a small village located in the Selwyn District of the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, near the Waimakariri Gorge. Sheffield has a close association with its neighbouring village Waddington, which is further south-east along State Highway 73. The two villages share a community committee. The two villages are located between Darfield and Springfield on State Highway 73 and the Midland Line railway. The towns were settled in the 19th century by farmers attracted to the area for sheep grazing. Sheffield has a railway station and was once a railway junction. The first railway line reached the town in the late 1870s from a junction in Darfield with the Whitecliffs Branch.
