The Maltese Government 2017–2022 was the Government of Malta from 9 June 2017 till 20 February 2022. The Maltese government is elected through a General Election for a five-year term. The Head of Government during the earlier period of the legislature was Joseph Muscat. Carmelo Abela
Carmelo Abela (born 10 February 1972) is a Maltese politician and is serving as an incumbent Labour MP and was the Minister for Home Affairs and National Security. He also served as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion, and as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta. On 15 January 2020 he was appointed Minister within the OPM in Robert Abela's cabinet. Biography Carmelo Abela was born on 10 February 1972 in Malta. He won his first general election in 1996, when he was named to the 8th Parliament of Malta. He has since won in 1998, 2003, 2008, and 2013. Edward Scicluna (born October 12, 1946 in Rabat, Malta) is a Maltese economist and politician. Scicluna assumed the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Malta as from 1 January 2021 for a five-year term. Michael Falzon (born 16 November 1961) is a Maltese politician Labour Party (PL) who has served as a Member of Parliament. He stood as a candidate for the second (Vittoriosa, Senglea, Cospicua, Żabbar, Kalkara and Xgħajra) and tenth electoral (Gżira, Pembroke, Sliema and St. Julian's) divisions of Malta for the PL.
