Malta In The Eurovision Song Contest 2009
Malta was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "What If We" written by Marc Paelinck and Gregory Bilsen. The song was performed by Chiara Siracusa, Chiara, who had previously represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in the Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998, 1998 and Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, 2005 edition where she achieved third and second place with the songs "The One That I Love" and "Angel", respectively. Hamrun ( ) is a town in the Southern Region, Malta, Southern Region of Malta, with a population of 9,244 as of March 2014. The people The townspeople are traditionally known as ''Tas-Sikkina'' (literally meaning 'of the knife' or 'those who carry a knife') or as ''Ta' Werwer'' (which literally means 'those who scare' or more colloquially, 'the scary ones'). This appellation could stem from the fact that a considerable number of used to work as stevedores on the docks and thus carried a knife at all times. Andrea Demirović ( sr-cyrl, Андреа Демировић; born 17 June 1985), also known as simply Andrea, is a Montenegrin singer and a student of the Cetinje Music Academy – ''Music Pedagogy''. Demirović was born in Podgorica, Montenegro (then part of SFR Yugoslavia). Her breakthrough came at the Sunčane Skale festival in 2002. She then had considerable successes at regional festivals, including the Serbo-Montenegrin and Montenegrin national finals for selecting the Eurovision Song Contest entry. Eleanor Cassar (born September 29, 1982) is a Maltese pop singer. She won the 2004 Golden Stag Festival. Early life and education Eleanor Cassar was first introduced to music at age 6, as part of her school choir. She was first noticed by her teacher in Secondary school, who encouraged her at participate at musical and theatrical events. The same teacher encouraged her to take singing seriously. Bernd Meinunger (born 30 September 1944) is a German lyricist and record producer (with Hanne Haller) who frequently works with Ralph Siegel and David Brandes. Ralph Siegel (born 30 September 1945) is a German record producer and songwriter. Siegel is one of the most notable figures at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he has participated with 24 songs so far, among them the 1982 winner song Ein bisschen Frieden. Gerard James Borg
Gerard James Borg is a Maltese songwriter, author, and concept creator. He is well known for writing multiple songs that competed in the Eurovision Song Contest. Borg has written six of the Maltese entries for the annual Eurovision Song Contest with composer Philip Vella. Their song "7th Wonder" sung by Ira Losco gave Malta 2nd place in the contest. This was the first time Malta reached 2nd place and it is the country's best result in the contest so far, alongside the 2nd place earned by Chiara with the song "Angel" in 2005.
