Mallapunyah
Mallapunyah Springs Station, often referred to as Mallapunyah, is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated about south east of Borroloola and south east of Darwin. Mallapunyah Creek runs through the property. Mallapunyah shares a boundary with Walhallow Station to the south, Kiana and McArthur River Stations to the east and the Mambalya Rrumburriya Wuyaliya Aboriginal Land Trust property to the north and west. Both the Tablelands Highway and the Borroloola Stock route bisect the property. The area was settled in the mid-1920s by the George and Elizabeth Darcy. When they initially settled the property George worked away to earn money for the family while Elizabeth built the homestead and the furniture and taught the twelve children. Tablelands Highway
The Tablelands Highway is a 375 kilometre single lane sealed road in the Northern Territory, Australia. It runs from Barkly Homestead on the Barkly Highway to Cape Crawford near Borroloola on the Carpentaria Highway. Upgrades The Northern Australia Beef Roads Program announced in 2016 included the following project for the Tablelands Highway. Walhallow Station
Walhallow Station also once known as Walhallow Downs often just referred to as Walhallow is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location It is located about north west of Elliott and north east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Walhallow shares a boundary to the north with Mallapunyah Station, to the south and east with Cresswell Downs, and to the south and west with Anthony Lagoon. Description Occupying an area of of open plains, mitchell grass downs, coolabah woodland and spinifex desert situated on the Barkly Tableland. A pastoral lease, sometimes called a pastoral run, is an arrangement used in both Australia and New Zealand where government-owned Crown land is leased out to graziers for the purpose of livestock grazing on rangelands. Australia Pastoral leases exist in both Australian commonwealth law and state jurisdictions. They do not give all the rights that attach to freehold land: there are usually conditions which include a time period and the type of activity permitted. According to Austrade, such leases cover about 44% of mainland Australia (), mostly in arid and semi-arid regions and the tropical savannahs. In Australia and New Zealand, a cattle station is a large farm (station is equivalent to the American ranch), the main activity of which is the rearing of cattle. The owner of a cattle station is called a ''grazier''. The largest cattle station in the world is Anna Creek Station in South Australia, which covers an area of . Borroloola ( local Aboriginal languages: ''Burrulula'') is a town in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is located on the McArthur River, about 50 km upstream from the Gulf of Carpentaria. Location Borroloola lies on the traditional country of the Yanyuwa people, on the coastal plain between the Barkly Tablelands and the Gulf of Carpentaria.
