Malegaon
Malegaon (IAST: ''Mālegāv''; Pronunciation: alegaːʋ is a city in Nashik District of Maharashtra State in India. It is situated on the bank of the Girna river with Mosam River river flowing through middle of the city dividing it in two parts. Malegaon is famous for its loom industries. History On the road linking Mumbai and Agra – now National Highway-3(NH3), it used to be a small junction known as ''Maliwadi'' (hamlet of gardeners). Naro Shankar Raje Bahadur was appointed as an agent in Malwa. He was gifted 18 villages which included Malewadi. He constructed Malegaon Fort in 1740 using craftsmen from Surat and northern India, the construction of which took 25 years. After the fort was completed, the craftsmen settled in the town. Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique
Mohammad Ismail Abdul Khalique is an Islamic scholar and an Indian politician from Malegaon city, Maharashtra. He had two terms as Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He won from the Malegaon Central (Vidhan Sabha constituency). He first won in 2009 by Jan Surajya Shakti. In 2014, he joined Nationalist Congress Party and contested elections, but lost. In 2019, he joined AIMIM. He is also general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. Personal life In 2020, Khalique was arrested for barging into a hospital in Malegaon with his supporters and manhandling a doctor and hospital staff for not attending his calls. Girna River
The Girna River is a river in the state of Maharashtra in western India. It gets its name from the goddess Giraja, also known as Parvati. Course The Girna originates at Kem Peak in the Western Ghats mountain range and flows east across Nashik District—where it is joined by the Mausam River—and into Malegaon. It then swings north to join the Tapti River. The biggest dams on it are Chankapur Dam (built by the British near Abhona in the Kalwan ''tehsil'', where the Sarpganga River joins the Girna) and Girna Dam (built in 1969). Nashik International Airport is an airport and Indian Air Force base serving the city of Nashik, Maharashtra, India. It is located at Ozar, northeast from the city centre.
