Malcolm Davies is a Welsh former professional darts player who competed in the 1980s. Career He competed in the 1984 BDO World Darts Championship, beating Bobby George in the first round but lost in the second round to fellow Welshman Peter Locke. He then played in the 1986 BDO World Darts Championship and succeeded in reaching the second round by defeating Australian Russell Stewart but lost to Eric Bristow. Davies reached the quarter finals of the 1986 Winmau World Masters where he lost to Canada's Bob Sinnaeve who eventually lost in the final to Bob Anderson. Eric Bristow
Eric John Bristow, (25 April 1957 – 5 April 2018), nicknamed "The Crafty Cockney", was an English professional darts player. He was ranked World No. 1 by the World Darts Federation a record five times, in 1980, 1981 and 1983–1985. He was a five-time World Champion, a five-time World Masters Champion a four-time World Cup singles champion and 2-time champion of the News of the World Darts Championship. He won 22 WDF and BDO Major titles, he won 62 individual career titles, added to 20 titles in team events, winning 82 overall. In the 1980s, Bristow's skill and personality helped turn darts into a worldwide spectator sport. Bob Sinnaeve
Robert "Bob" Sinnaeve (born October 10, 1949) is a Canadian former professional darts player. Early career Sinnaeve took up darts in 1973 as an alternative to bowling, as he felt the darts circuit would give him more time to spend with his wife, Judy. He first appeared at the World Masters in 1979 and made his World Professional Darts Championship debut in 1982, but lost in the first round to Alan Evans. World Championship record Sinnaeve appeared at the World Championship on ten occasions, but managed to win only three matches in that time. He lost in the first round on his first four attempts (1982, 1984, 1985 and 1986), and finally won a match in 1987, producing a major upset by beating Dave Whitcombe, who reached the final in the previous year. Winmau World Masters
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. Russell "Rusty" Stewart (born 9 October 1960 in Melbourne) is an Australian former professional darts player. He used the nickname Rusty for his matches. Playing career Stewart was one of the most successful Australian darts players of the 1980s, Australian Singles Champion four times (1988, 1989, 1993 and 1994), also Pacific Masters Champion three times (1983, 1984, 1990), winning the Australian Masters five times in six years (1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988) and the Australian Grand Masters six times in three different decades (1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1993, 2001). 1986 BDO World Darts Championship
The 1986 Embassy World Darts Championship was held between 4–11 January 1986. For the first time, the tournament was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, having been held at Jollees Cabaret Club in Stoke-on-Trent for the previous seven years. Peter Locke (darts Player)
Peter Locke is a Welsh former professional darts player. Darts career Locke made his World Championship debut in the 1983 BDO World Darts Championship, losing in the first round to Terry O'Dea. A year later in the 1984 BDO World Darts Championship, he reached the quarter-finals, defeating Russell Stewart in the first round and then Malcolm Davies in the second round before losing to the eventual champion Eric Bristow in a 5-0 whitewash. In the 1985 BDO World Darts Championship, he lost in the first round to Fred McMullan. Locke then reached the final of the 1985 British Open, losing to John Cosnett.
