Malaysia Pro League
The Malaysia Pro League (MPL) was a professional basketball league founded by Malaysia Basketball Association (MABA). The league organized the Men's division, Women's division, and Development League. History In 2013, Malaysia National Basketball League ceased to operate. After four years of absence, MABA created a national level league called Malaysia Pro League. In 2022, Malaysia Basketball Association announced the establishment of a new professional basketball league called Major Basketball League Malaysia, replacing Malaysia Pro League. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. The FIBA Asia Champions Cup, previously known as the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) Champions Cup until 2002, is the Asian club championship for professional basketball. It is organised by FIBA Asia, and takes place once a year (since 1995). In terms of qualifications to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, Malaysia's ranks as one of Asia's top five basketball nations. In the Southeast Asian region, the team has traditionally been a top competitor. The Malaysia men's national basketball team represents Malaysia at international basketball competitions. It is organized and run by the Malaysia Basketball Association (MABA). The Filipino Basketball League, also known as Filbasket, is a professional basketball league founded in 2021 in the Philippines. Its first season was launched on October 28, 2021, featured eleven teams and ran for a period of 26 days. AICC Manila clinched the league title.
