Malacca State Library
Malacca State Library () is the main public library of the Malaysian state of Malacca, located in the town of Bukit Baru. It is currently the headquarters of the Malacca Public Library Corporation (, abbreviated as PERPUSTAM), a statutory body of the Malacca State Government and also a constituent feeder library of the National Library of Malaysia. Malacca State Library is currently one of the two state libraries in the country not located in the capital city, the other one being Penang State Library in Seberang Jaya. History The history of the Malacca State Library can be traced back to December 1881 when the subscription library Malacca Library was established at the Rest House in Malacca Town Centre, the third such library in Malaya after Penang (Penang Library) and Singapore (Raffles Library). Tan Siew Sin
Tan Siew Sin (; 21 May 1916 – 17 March 1988) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Finance, and 3rd President of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA, formerly Malayan Chinese Association), a major component party of Alliance and later Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions. In his term as the Minister of Finance, a new Malaysian currency, Malaysian Ringgit was introduced. He is the longest-serving Minister of Finance by serving in the position for 15 years. Syed Ahmad bin Syed Mahmud Shahabuddin (4 May 1925 – 7 July 2008) was a Malaysian politician. He was the Menteri Besar of Kedah from 1967 to 1978 and the fifth Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Melaka state from 1984 until 2004, the longest-serving governor of Malacca. The Malaysia Architecture Museum () is an architecture museum in Malacca City, Malacca, Malaysia which exhibits various architectural materials, building models and concepts. The museum's building is Dutch in style, as it was built during the Dutch period in the 18th century as the residence and administration center of the Dutch officials. During the British Malaya period, the building was used as an administrative office. After the independence of Malaya in 1957, the building became the office of Malacca Water Board. In 2000, the building was restored to its original shape by the department of Museum and Antiquities. The museum was opened in 2004 and it is administered under the Antiquity and Museum Association. Stadthuys
The Stadthuys (an old Dutch spelling, meaning city hall) is a historical structure situated in the heart of Malacca City, the administrative capital of the state of Malacca, Malaysia, in a place known as the Red Square. The Stadthuys is known for its red exterior and nearby red clocktower. It was built by the Dutch in 1650 as the office of the Dutch governor and deputy governor. It continued to be used as the Treasury, Post Office, Government Offices, and suites of apartments for the high officials after the takeover by the British.
