Najat Makki
Najat Makki (born 1956) is an Emirati visual artist. She is a member of the Dubai Cultural Council. and one of the pioneers in Emirati contemporary art scene. Education Makki was the first Emirati woman to earn a government scholarship to study art abroad in 1977. She obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in relief sculpture and metal from the College of Fine Arts in Cairo, where she also received her doctorate in the philosophy of art in 2001. Influences Najat Makki was influenced by pioneer Egyptian artists such as Mokhtar, Mohamed Saeed, Hamed Nada, Brothers Wanly, Alsajini and Saed Alsader. Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Alawi ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Aziz (1944–2004), also known as Muhammad ibn Alawi al-Maliki, () was one of the foremost traditional Sunni Islamic scholar of contemporary times from Saudi Arabia. He is considered to be the Mujaddid of 20th-21st century. Sayyid Muhammad ibn Shuja' al-Din al-Husayni al-Makki (), 1145–1246, also known as Sayyid Mahmood Shah al-Makki () was the ancestor of the Bukkuri or Bhaakri Sayyids (Urdu: ), who founded Bukkur in Sindh. Birth and upbringing The father of the Sayyid was Abu Ahmad Muhammad Shuja who married daughter of Abu Hafs Umar al-Suhrawardi in Baghdad. Sayyid Muhammad was born in 1145 (Islamic year of 540 AH) to the couple. Some scholars however disputed this marriage of Sayyid Muhammad Shuja to a daughter of al-Suhrawardi and have mentioned that it was Sayyid Muhammad al-Makki himself who married the daughter of al-Suhrawardi. Ḍiyāʾ al-Dīn ʿUmar b. al-Ḥusayn al-Makkī, also known as Ḍiyāʾ al-Dīn al-Makkī () was a well-known Ash'arite theologian and Shafi'i jurist. His primary distinction is that he was the father and the first teacher of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, one of the most significant theologians and philosophers in Islamic history. Abu Talib Muhammad ibn Ali al-Makki (; died 386 AH/996 AD in Baghdad), was a hadith scholar, Shafi'i jurist, and Sufi mystic. Biography He was born in the Abbasid province of Jibal in the early 3rd AH / 9th AD centuries. Al-Makki grew up in Mecca, where he was educated in hadith and the Qur’an by the city's traditionalist circles. Abu Sa’id ibn al-Arabi (d. 341 AH/952-3 AD), a student of the sober Sufi Mystic, Junayd of Baghdad, was one of Al-Makki's early traditionalist teachers. Imdadullah Muhajir Makki (1817 – 1899) was an Indian Muslim Sufi scholar of the Chishti Sufi order. His disciples include Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, and Ashraf Ali Thanwi. In the Indian Rebellion of 1857, he led the Muslims in Thana Bhawan to fight against the British. Early life Imdadullah Muhaajir Makki was born in Nanauta, British India in 1817. His father Muhammad Amīn named him Imdad Hussain. However, Shah Muhammad Ishaq gave him the name of Imdādullah. Hossein Makki
Seyyed Hossein Makki () was an Iranian politician, orator and historian. He was a member of Parliament of Iran for three consecutive terms from 1947 to 1953. The son of a ''bazaari'' merchant, Makki was an employee of National Iranian Railroad Company, having previously served as a non-commissioned officer in the Imperial Iranian Air Force. He began his career as a journalist in 1941 and was a founding member of the Iran Party, as one of the few who was not Western-educated. He left the party as a leading member of Democrat Party of Iran in 1946 and entered the Parliament of Iran as a protégé of Ahmad Qavam in 1947. He left his patron in 1949 to embrace a nationalist cause, befriending Mohammad Mossadegh and co-founding National Front.
