Makir Zakpe
His Royal Majesty, Begha U Tiv, Orchivirigh, Makir Zakpe (or Dzakpe, Zape) was the first Tor Tiv, who ruled from September 19, 1946, to October 11, 1956. Early life His Royal Mayesty Makir Zakpe, the first Tor Tiv was born at Mbayar, Nyumagbagh of Mbaduku District in the present day Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State. He is from Kunav, Jechira of Ipusu lineage in the Tiv genealogy. His mother was from Mbagen in Buruku Local Government Area. Career Military Career Late Makir Zakpe was enlisted into the Royal West African Frontier Force(WAFF) army stationed at Calabar in 1918 and was posted to the third battalion of the Southern Nigeria Regiment. He was part of the Nigerian forces that fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1946 and was promoted to the rank of Battalion Sergeant Major (BSM) before retiring. Tor Tiv
Tor Tiv also known as Begha U Tiv (Lion of Tiv people) is the supreme traditional ruler / King / Monarch of the Tiv people. The stool was established in 1946 by the British colonial administration after they created the Tiv Central Council. Tor Tiv is the symbol of unity of the Tiv people. The seat is located in Gboko. The Tor Tiv is the head of ''Ijirtamen'' also known as the Tiv Traditional Council (TTC), the highest policy-making body in charge of the Tiv people. It comprises all the chiefs in Tiv land. The council sits at least once in a year. The Tor Tiv, according to Tiv tradition, arbitrates disputes among Tiv people without impartiality, irrespective of economic, political and social status of the parties to a dispute. Jukun People (West Africa)
Jukun (''Njikum;'' ; Kanuri language, Kanuri: ''Gwana, Kwana'') are an ethno-linguistic group or ethnic nation in West Africa. The Jukun are traditionally located in Taraba State, Taraba, Benue State, Benue, Nasarawa State, Nasarawa, Plateau State, Plateau, Adamawa State, Adamawa, Bauchi State, Bauchi and Gombe State, Gombe States in Nigeria and parts of northwestern Cameroon. They are descendants of the people of Kwararafa. Most of the tribes in the north central of Nigeria trace their origin to the Jukun people and are related in one way or the other to the Jukuns. Kwande
Kwande is a Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Adikpo. Kwande has an area of 2,891 km and a population of 248,697 at the 2006 Census. It is bordered by several other LGAs. On the west, it is bordered by Vandeikya Local Government, Ushongo LGA on the north, and Katsina-Ala LGA on the northwest. On the south, it is bordered by Cross River State and in the southeast by the Republic of Cameroon. Kwande LGA also shares a common border with Takum LGA of Taraba State on the east. It has fifteen council wards but sixteen traditional districts. As a result of its mountainous nature and proximity to the Cameroonian range of mountains, Kwande Local Government usually has cold weather which makes it very conducive to traders and investors. Makurdi is the capital of Benue State, located in central Nigeria, and part of the Middle Belt region of central Nigeria. The city is situated along the Benue River. Cross River State
