Makar Suntsev
Makar Suntsev (born 4 October 2004) is a Finnish figure skater. Born in Russia, he is the 2024 Finnish Champion, a two-time Finnish national silver medalist (2022, 2023), and a two-time bronze medalist at the Nordic Championship bronze medalist (2023 and 2024). Personal life Suntsev was born on October 4, 2004 in Perm, Russia. He also has an older sister. At the age of five, Suntsev moved with his family to Kotka, Finland. He graduated from Karhula High School before enrolling at the Aalto University in 2024 to study business. Career Early career When he was a young child, Suntsev's mother, Tatiana Lebedeva, worked as a figure skating coach in Perm, Russia. After Suntsev turned three, Lebedeva started bringing him to the rink so he could sit at the sidelines while she coached. He began skating in 2008 at the age of four under his mother's tutelage. 2021 CS Finlandia Trophy
The 2021 CS Finlandia Trophy was held on October 7–10, 2021 in Espoo, Finland. It was part of the 2021–22 ISU Challenger Series. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, pairs, and ice dance. After the previous Challenger Series event, the 2021 CS Nepela Memorial, Nepela Memorial, was cancelled, the event organizers received a higher-than-anticipated interest number of entries. The 2022–23 ISU Junior Grand Prix was a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union that were held from August 2022 through December 2022. It was the junior-level complement to the 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the 2022–23 Junior Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy. A makar () is a term from Scottish literature for a poet or bard, often thought of as a royal court poet. 2022 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 World Junior Figure Skating Championships was held from April 13–17, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Figure skaters competed for the title of junior world champion in men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. The competition determined the entry quotas for each federation during the 2022–23 ISU Junior Grand Prix series and at the 2023 World Junior Championships. The competition was originally scheduled to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria from March 7–13, 2022. On February 27, the ISU announced that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bulgaria and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the event would be unable to be held as scheduled in Bulgaria.
