Major Thibaut Jr. (born January 3, 1977), is an American politician who served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for the 18th district from 2008 to 2020. The district encompasses Iberville, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, and Pointe Coupee parishes. Thibaut is known for his efforts to obtain infrastructure improvements in his largely rural district. Early life and education Thibaut was born in Oscar, Louisiana. He graduated the Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and government from Louisiana State University in 1999. Career He is a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. Pointe Coupee Parish ( or ; ) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,758. The parish seat is New Roads. Pointe Coupee Parish is part of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2010, the center of population of Louisiana was located in Pointe Coupee Parish, in the city of New Roads. History Pointe Coupee is the oldest settlement on the lower Mississippi, having been made by some wandering Canadian trappers as early as 1708. Bienville established this place as a military post, before the commencement of New Orleans. Settlers arrived in 1719, making it the third oldest settlement in Louisiana. John Bel Edwards (born September 16, 1966) is an American politician, attorney, and Army veteran who served as the 56th governor of Louisiana from 2016 to 2024. A Southern Democrat, he previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2008 to 2015.
