Major Major (band)
Major Major were an English indie rock band from Liverpool, England. History On 4 January 2008, Major Major became the first band to perform at the Liverpool Echo Arena, where they supported The Farm in front of ambassadors for European Capital of Culture 2008. The group reached the final of ''Now That's What We Call Culture'' on 8 August 2008, which was held at the Liverpool Echo Arena. The band reached the final after progressing through heats judged by Phil Redmond and Jennifer Ellison. Glastonbury 2009 Major Major became the first confirmed act for Glastonbury Festival 2009, after winning the ''Rockstar Bands'' competition on 5 September 2008. The competition was backed by the Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis and Peter Gabriel. Peter Gabriel
Peter Brian Gabriel (born 13 February 1950) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and human rights activist. He came to prominence as the original frontman of the rock band Genesis. He left the band in 1975 and launched a solo career with " Solsbury Hill" as his first single. Franz Ferdinand (band)
Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. Their original line-up was composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Bob Hardy (bassist), Bob Hardy (bass, percussion) and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Michael Eavis
Sir Athelstan Joseph Michael Eavis (born 17 October 1935) is an English dairy farmer and the co-creator of the Glastonbury Festival, which takes place at his farm in Pilton, Somerset. Personal life Eavis was born in Pilton, Somerset on 17 October 1935, and grew up at Worthy Farm in the village. His father was a dairy farmer and also a Methodist local preacher, and his mother a school teacher. Eavis was educated at Wells Cathedral School, followed by the Thames Nautical Training College in Greenhithe, Kent, after which he joined the Union-Castle Line, part of the British Merchant Navy, as a trainee midshipman. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. The 2009 Glastonbury Festival/Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was held from 24 to 29 June 2009. Jennifer Ellison
Jennifer Lesley Ellison is an English actress, former glamour model, television personality, dancer and singer. Ellison is perhaps best known for playing Emily Shadwick in the television soap opera '' Brookside'' until 2003, and as Meg Giry in the 2004 film adaptation of '' The Phantom of the Opera''.
