Moonshadow (song)
"Moonshadow" is a song written and performed by Cat Stevens (known since 1978 as Yusuf Islam), first released as a single in the UK in 1970 on the Island label and in the US in 1971 on the A&M label. It also appears on Stevens' 1971 album ''Teaser and the Firecat''. History Stevens considers this his favourite of his old songs. Bruce Lynch
Bruce Lynch (born 1 June 1948, in New Zealand) is an electric and acoustic bassist, producer and arranger. Music career Arriving in the UK in the mid-1970s, Lynch became a commercially successful session musician, touring extensively with Cat Stevens, including Stevens's 1976 Earth Tour as a sideman that was recorded as the album/DVD, '' Majikat'', released in 2004; he appeared on six of Steven's albums. His wife Suzanne Lynch sang backing vocals for much of this time. He also recorded on two albums for Richard Thompson, and an album with Rick Wakeman as well as on Chris Rea's 1980 album ''Tennis'' and on Kate Bush's debut album. While in the UK, he was also an early member of British jazz fusion band Morrissey–Mullen, together with fellow New Zealand session musician Frank Gibson, Jr. on drums. Suzanne Lynch
Suzanne Joy Lynch (née Donaldson, born 11 December 1950) is a New Zealand singer who has worked professionally under the names Suzanne Donaldson, Suzanne Lynch and Suzanne. Career Lynch first came to wide public knowledge in the 1960s as half of the duo The Chicks with her sister, Judy Hindman, on the NZBC television series ''C'MON''. In 1969, she became a solo performer and was a resident performer on the follow-up show ''Happen Inn''. In 1970 she was voted ''NZ Entertainer of the Year'' and won a Loxene Golden Disc in 1972. Gerry Conway (musician)
Gerald Conway (11 September 1947 – 29 March 2024) was an English rock drummer and percussionist. He performed with the backing band for Cat Stevens in the 1970s, with Jethro Tull during the 1980s, and was a member of Fairport Convention from 1998 to 2022. Conway also worked as a session musician. He was married to vocalist Jacqui McShee, the singer of the band Pentangle, of which he was also a member. Biography Early life Conway was born in King's Lynn, Norfolk, on 11 September 1947. He learned to play drums for school bands at secondary school in London. When he was 13, he was invited to join the Chico Arnéz Orchestra, but his parents decided he should not. He left school when he was sixteen and worked at EMI Records. ''An Other Cup'' is the twelfth studio album by Yusuf (formerly known as Cat Stevens), released on 10 November 2006 in Germany, 13 November in the UK and the US and worldwide on 14 November. It is Yusuf's first Western pop album since '' Back to Earth'', which was released in 1978 under the name Cat Stevens. ''An Other Cup'' is the artist's first studio album under the name Yusuf. It heralded his return to Western pop music. History On the album cover, the artist is credited as "Yusuf" with a cover label identifying him as "the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens". Alun Davies (born 27 July 1942) is a Welsh guitarist, studio musician, recording artist, and composer who rose to fame primarily with his supporting guitar work and backing vocals as accompanist for English musician Cat Stevens from early 1970 to 1977. Prior to his association with Stevens, Davies co-wrote, sang, and played on two albums: in 1963, with Jon Mark (known then as John Michael Burchell), and in 1968, as a member of the band Sweet Thursday with Mark, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, Harvey Burns and Brian Odgers, when folk-rock music was still in its infancy. When their label declared bankruptcy, Davies was invited to join Cat Stevens as a session musician, who was attempting to change his sound and advance in the music world. Peace Train
"Peace Train" is a 1971 song by Cat Stevens, taken from his album '' Teaser and the Firecat''. The song climbed to No. 7 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart during the week of November 6, 1971, becoming Stevens' first US Top 10 hit. The song also spent three weeks at No. 1 on the adult contemporary chart. It is also featured on ''The Very Best of Cat Stevens'' compilation album. Electric Piano
An electric piano is a musical instrument that has a piano-style musical keyboard, where sound is produced by means of mechanical hammers striking metal strings or reeds or wire tines, which leads to vibrations which are then converted into electrical signals by pickups (either magnetic, electrostatic, or piezoelectric). The pickups are connected to an instrument amplifier and loudspeaker to reinforce the sound sufficiently for the performer and audience to hear. Unlike a synthesizer, the electric piano is not an electronic instrument. Instead, it is an electro-mechanical instrument. Clavinet
The Clavinet is an electric clavichord invented by Ernst Zacharias and manufactured by the Hohner company of Trossingen, West Germany, from 1964 to 1982. The instrument produces sounds with rubber pads, each matching one of the keys and responding to a keystroke by striking a given point on a tensioned string, and was designed to resemble the Renaissance music, Renaissance-era clavichord. Although originally intended for home use, the Clavinet became popular on stage, and could be used to create electric guitar sounds on a keyboard. It is strongly associated with the musician Stevie Wonder, who used the instrument extensively, particularly on his 1972 hit "Superstition (song), Superstition", and was regularly featured in rock music, rock, funk and reggae music throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
