''The Legendary Majik Mijits'' is an album by former Small Faces members Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane. It was recorded when they reformed under the name of ''Majik Mijits'' in 1981 and gave a one-off concert at the Bridgehouse pub in East London. The lineup included Jim Leverton, Mick Green, Mick Weaver, Dave Hynes and Sam Brown. NMC Recordings
NMC Recordings is a British recording label and a charity which specialises in recording works by living composers from the British Isles. History The composer Colin Matthews founded NMC in 1989, with financial assistance from the Gustav Holst, Holst Foundation. NMC is an abbreviation for "New Music Cassettes", which refers to the intended main means of packaging its recordings at the time. Matthews continues as a producer of NMC's recordings. NMC was originally administered through the Society for the Promotion of New Music. In 1992, NMC became independent, and Matthews invited Bill Colleran to become NMC's first board chairman. Colleran served in this capacity from 1993 to 2004. Additional financial support for NMC resulted after the 1993 Copyright Duration Directive (93/98/EEC), which extended the copyright term from 50 to 70 years. Small Faces
Small Faces were an English Rock music, rock band from London, founded in 1965. The group originally consisted of Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones and Jimmy Winston, with Ian McLagan replacing Winston as the band's keyboardist in 1966. The band were one of the most acclaimed and influential Mod (subculture), mod groups of the 1960s, recording Chart-topper, hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday (Small Faces song), Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing (Small Faces song), All or Nothing" and "Tin Soldier (song), Tin Soldier", as well as their concept album ''Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake''. Steve Marriott
Stephen Peter Marriott (30 January 1947 – 20 April 1991) was an English actor, musician, guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was a student at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and appeared in the West End, before taking a role in music. He co-founded and played in the rock bands Small Faces and Humble Pie, in a career spanning over 20 years. Marriott was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces. In Britain, Marriott became a popular, often-photographed Mod (subculture), mod style icon. Marriott was influenced by musicians such as: Miles Davis, Buddy Holly, Booker T & the MG's, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters and Bobby Bland. Ronnie Lane
Ronald Frederick Lane (1 April 1946 – 4 June 1997) was an English musician and songwriter who was the bassist and co-founder of the rock bands Small Faces (1965–69) and Faces (band), Faces (1969–73). Lane formed Small Faces in 1965 after meeting Steve Marriott, with whom he subsequently wrote many of their hit singles including "All or Nothing (Small Faces song), All or Nothing", "Itchycoo Park" and "Lazy Sunday (Small Faces song), Lazy Sunday". After Marriott left Small Faces in 1968, band members Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, Kenny Jones were joined by Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to form Faces (band), Faces. Michael Robert Green (22 February 1944 – 11 January 2010) was an English rock and roll guitarist who played with Johnny Kidd & the Pirates, The Pirates (with and without Johnny Kidd (singer), Johnny Kidd), Billy J. Kramer The Dakotas (band), and the Dakotas, and Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers. Mick Weaver
Mick Weaver (born 16 June 1944, Bolton, Lancashire, England) is an English session musician, best known for his playing of the Hammond B3 organ. Career Weaver's band performed as Wynder K. Frog and became popular on the student union and club circuit of the mid 1960s. A brief merging of this band with Herbie Goins and the Night-Timers took his work to a higher level. Wynder K. Frogg — they are billed under this spelling — appeared on the bill at the Saville Theatre, London on 24 September 1967, supporting Traffic on their first UK presentation. Also on the bill were Jackie Edwards and Nirvana. The compere was David Symonds. When Steve Winwood left Traffic to form Blind Faith, Weaver was recruited to replace him and Traffic became ''Mason, Capaldi, Wood and Frog'', soon shortened to ''Wooden Frog''. Samantha Brown (born 7 October 1964) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Brown is a blue-eyed soul and jazz singer, and ukulele and piano player. She came to prominence in the late 1980s as a solo artist and released eight singles that entered the UK Singles Chart during the 1980s and 1990s. Her solo singles, sometimes dealing with lost love, include " Stop!", " This Feeling", "Can I Get a Witness", "Kissing Gate", " With a Little Love" and "Just Good Friends". "All or Nothing" is a song written by Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane of the British rock music, rock band Small Faces and released as a single in 1966. The song reached Hit record, number one on the UK Singles Chart on 15 September 1966. The song was also a major hit in both the Netherlands, where it reached number two and Ireland, where it reached number three. It was also the first song by the Small Faces to chart in Ireland, as "Whatcha Gonna Do About It", "Sha-La-La-La-Lee" and "Hey Girl (Small Faces song), Hey Girl" all failed to do so. Jim Leverton
Jim Leverton (born 6 June 1946, Dover, Kent, England) is an English professional musician, with a career spanning nearly fifty years, including as a sidesman to the Jimi Hendrix Experience's Noel Redding, Steve Marriott, Blodwyn Pig and the Canterbury scene band Caravan. Early years After leaving school in Folkestone in 1964, Leverton spent a short while as an apprentice bricklayer but it was not long before he decided his future was as a musician. By the early 1960s he was already working in semi-professional beat groups in and around Dover, including The Big Beats (1962–63). By 1964 he was ready to work full-time in music, and joined The Burnettes from Folkestone who had Leverton's friend Noel Redding on guitar. They broke up 18 months later having released two singles.
