Majadahonda HC
Majadahonda HC (previously known as CH Majadahonda) is an ice hockey team in Majadahonda, Spain. They play in the Liga Nacional de Hockey Hielo. History They were founded in 1992 to replace CH Boadilla, which had folded two years earlier. The club did not participate in the Superliga from 2002 to 2004, but returned to the league in 2004 and has played there ever since. They won the Superliga in 1998, and made it to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey in 1998 and 2002. In the 2024–25 season, Majadahonda played its first home games versus HC Porto, led by the Portugal national team coach Jim Aldred. The match was delayed when Porto' equipment did not arrive on the same flight as the players. Majadahonda loaned their away jerseys and extra equipment to play the game, which they won by a 5–1 score. Majadahonda
Majadahonda () is a municipality in Spain, situated northwest of Madrid, in the Community of Madrid. It lies alongside the motorway A6 Madrid- A Coruña. The Puerta de Hierro university (public) hospital was relocated to Majadahonda from the western part of the city of Madrid into a newly built medical complex in 2009. History By the 16th century Majadahonda had become a proper village, with a population of about 400 inhabitants. At the end of the 16th century there were almost two hundred houses and some 800 inhabitants. Majadahonda is mentioned in Miguel de Cervantes' '' Don Quixote'' and '' El Buscón'' by Francisco de Quevedo. The National Ice Hockey League () is the top men's professional ice hockey league in Spain. Its governing body is the Royal Spanish Ice Sports Federation. History Liga Nacional de Hockey Hielo was established in 1972 as the ''Superliga Española de Hockey Hielo''. There were six founding teams which participated in the first season, 1972–73: Real Sociedad, CH Jaca, CH Valladolid, CG Puigcerdà, CH Madrid and CF Barcelona. In 2011, the league was composed of eight teams, but due to financial problems with almost all the clubs, the league reduced the number of participants year after year until only five of them were left. Jim Aldred
James Aldred (born April 28, 1963) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. He played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, and was drafted 59th overall in the 1981 NHL entry draft, 1981 National Hockey League entry draft by the Buffalo Sabres. After four seasons combined in the American Hockey League and the International Hockey League (1945–2001), International Hockey League, he won an Eredivisie (ice hockey), Eredivisie championship in the Netherlands with the Nijmegen Tigers. Retiring due to injuries, Aldred turned to coaching four seasons in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League. Kent Åke Nilsson (born 31 August 1956) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey centre. He played in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the Winnipeg Jets, and in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Atlanta and Calgary Flames, Minnesota North Stars and Edmonton Oilers, as well as teams across various European leagues.
