Maiquel Alejo ( Suarez) was a television game show hostess best known as the co-hostess of the California Lottery's first game show ''The Big Spin'' from 1993 to 2009. She was joined by various hosts including Geoff Edwards, Larry Anderson (actor), Larry Anderson, Jack Gallagher (comedian), Jack Gallagher and Pat Finn (game show host), Pat Finn during her 16 years until the show ended its run on January 10, 2009. In addition to her hosting duties on ''The Big Spin'', she helped contestants who spoke only Spanish during interviews with her co-hosts when an interpreter was needed as she is fluent in Spanish. She was married in 1997 and, away from the show, she spends time with her husband and her four children. She is also an actress. California Lottery
The California State Lottery is the state lottery of California, which began in October 1985 after voters authorized it in Proposition 37, the California State Lottery Act of 1984. It offers a range of games including number draws, scratchcards and a mock horse race. The earnings provide supplementary funding for public education. Lottery Act The Lottery Act was intended to provide more money to schools without imposing extra taxes. ''The Big Spin'' is the California Lottery's first television game show. It ended with a fixed top prize of $3 million and a minimum guaranteed cash prize of $1,750. The total cash and prizes given in 2007 came out to $17,872,500, the most money given away in a game show that year, therefore being "the biggest money game show on Earth" as its introduction stated. Originally, the show was taped in Hollywood, California at Hollywood Center Studios. From 1986 to 1998, the show was taped in Sacramento; Mike Side hosted a short time when the show was done at the KTXL studios in Sacramento, the state capital as well as headquarters of the lottery. From 1999 until the end of its run, the show was taped in Hollywood at KCET Studios. Geoff Edwards
Geoffrey Bruce Owen Edwards (February 13, 1931 – March 5, 2014) was an American television actor, game show host, and radio personality. Starting in the early 2000s, he was also a writer and broadcaster on the subject of travel. Background Prior to his media career, Edwards was an accomplished musician, playing drums in a number of jazz bands. Edwards began his career while attending Duke University, working for a radio station in Albany, New York. In 1959, Edwards got his first job at KFMB-AM in San Diego, hosting an evening show and co-hosting the ''Don Ross/Geoff Edwards Show''. Larry Anderson (born September 22, 1952) is an American actor and magician. Early work He originally started as an assistant to magician Mark Wilson in 1973, and was immediately put to work on the set of '' The Magician'' (starring Bill Bixby), assisting Wilson as the show's magic coordinator. He has since appeared in several television series and films, and is also known for his uncredited role as Michael Long (renamed Michael Knight later in the episode) in the pilot episode of the 1980s hit TV series '' Knight Rider''. His voice was overdubbed by David Hasselhoff who, when the character was shot in the face and given plastic surgery, took over the role for the remainder of the series.
