Maiken Fruergaard
Maiken Fruergaard Sørensen (born 11 May 1995) is a Danish badminton player, specializing in doubles play. As a junior player, she was the gold medalists at the 2013 European Junior Championships in the team and mixed doubles events, and in 2014, she entered the national team. Career Fruergaard competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics partnering Sara Thygesen. Her pace at the Games was stopped in the group stage after placing 4th in the group C standings. 2025 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships
The 2025 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, at 12 to 16 February 2025 and organised by Badminton Europe and Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. Selena Piek
Selena Piek (born 30 September 1991) is a Dutch badminton player who specializes in doubles. She won the gold medals at the European Games in 2019 in the women's doubles, and in 2023 in the mixed doubles. She was part of the Badminton Europe Athletes' Commission from 2016 to 2020. Since joining the national team when she was 15, Piek has shown her talent in playing doubles. She won gold in the mixed doubles and silver medal in the girls' doubles at the 2009 European Junior Championships. She reached a career high of world number 7 in the women's doubles with Eefje Muskens and number 8 in the mixed doubles with Robin Tabeling. Eefje Muskens (born 17 June 1989), is a Dutch former badminton player who specializes in doubles. Her last partner for women's doubles was Selena Piek. She won the 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of Dutch National Badminton Championships with Piek. Prior to that she already won her first National title in 2013 with Samantha Barning. She won a silver medal at the 2016 European Badminton Championships and a bronze medal at the 2014 European Badminton Championships with Piek. In 2016, she and Piek competed at the Badminton at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rio Summer Olympics and reached the quarter-finals round. Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; professional games are played on a rectangular indoor court. The Badminton World Federation, aka BWF, is the international governing body for the sport of badminton approved by the International Olympic Committee. It was founded on 5 July 1934 as the International Badminton Federation with nine member nations: Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales.
