Mahide Lein
Mahide Lein (born 1949) is a German LGBTQ+ activist, organiser and head of a concert agency. She has also campaigned for sex workers' rights and with the anti-psychiatric movement. Biography Lein was born in 1949 in Höchst. She attended Goethe University Frankfurt. Lein became involved with the New Women's Movement and ran the women's café ''Café Niedenau'' in a squatted house on Kettenhofweg in Frankfurt am Main from the 1970s. The café hosted exhibitions, political discussions and concerts. She was also one of the founders of the first lesbian centre in Frankfurt. After moving to Berlin, Lein is credited with shaping Berlin's lesbian scene in the 1980s and 1990s. She was an organiser of the Berlin Christopher Street Day (CSD, Germany and Switzerland's counterpart to pride parades), the anti-psychiatric Tribunals, and the KultHur-Festival to promote sex workers' rights. Side By Side (film Festival)
"Side by Side" Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival (''«Bok o Bok»'', ) is an international film festival that seeks to explore the issues of homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender (LGBT) through art cinema. Since 2008 it has taken place every autumn in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In addition, various special events are held almost every month, and since 2009 film showings and discussions have also been conducted in other parts of Russia. Concept The Side by Side film festival aims to establish an open cultural space in which Russian society and the LGBT community can enter into a broad discussion and generate a positive dialogue, thus contributing to the struggle against discrimination based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation. Anti-psychiatry, sometimes spelled antipsychiatry, is a movement based on the view that psychiatric treatment can often be more damaging than helpful to patients. The term anti-psychiatry was coined in 1912, and the movement emerged in the 1960s, highlighting controversies about psychiatry. The Lesbian and Gay City Festival (''Lesbisch-Schwules Stadtfest'') in Berlin is Europe's largest street festival for lesbians and gays. It has been held in the traditional gay area around Nollendorfplatz in Schöneberg since 1993. In Berlin it is often referred to as the Motzstraßenfest (Motz-street festival) as the Motzstraße is locally well known for its concentration of gay bars. The first festival only took place in this street, being organized by bar tenants of the street. The founders had created a work group, "Konzertierte Aktion lesbisch-schwuler Wirtschaft in Berlin" (Concerted Action of Lesbian-Gay Economy in Berlin) that grew into the current organizer association "Regenbogenfonds e.
