Mahe Assembly Constituency
Mahe is a legislative assembly constituency in the Union territory of Puducherry in India, covering the area of Mahe. Mahe Assembly constituency is part of Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency. From 1964 to 2011, the Mahe region had two Assembly Constituencies - Mahe and Palloor. Mahe Assembly constituency included areas of Mahe, Cherukallayi and Chalakkara, whereas Palloor constituency comprised Palloor and Pandakkal areas. Palloor Assembly constituency was abolished for the 2011 Assembly election. Thus, the whole of Mahe came under the enlarged Mahe Constituency since 2011. Puducherry (union Territory)
Puducherry, also known as Pondicherry, is a union territory of India, consisting of four small geographically unconnected districts. It was formed out of four territories of former French India, namely Puducherry district, Pondichéry (now Puducherry), Karaikal district, Karikal (Karaikal), Mahé district, Mahé and Yanaon (now Yanam district, Yanam), excluding Chandannagar (Chandernagore), and it is named after the largest district, Puducherry, which was also the capital of French India. Historically known as Pondicherry, the territory Renaming of cities in India, changed its official name to Puducherry on 1 October 2006. The Union Territory of Puducherry lies in the South India, southern part of the Indian Peninsula. 2021 Puducherry Legislative Assembly Election
The fifteenth legislative assembly election was held on 6 April 2021 to elect members from 30 constituencies of the 15th Puducherry Assembly in the union territory of Puducherry in India. The National democratic alliance has won a simple majority Background In the previous elections in 2016, the election brought a change of power as the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC), which had formed the government under N. Rangaswamy, lost its majority to the Indian National Congress (INC), led by V. Narayanasamy. In the previous elections in 2016 Indian National Congress (INC) emerged as Single Largest Party with 15 seats, with the support of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) the government was formed. However, a trust vote was called after five MLAs of the Congress, including two ministers, and one DMK MLA resigned from the Assembly.
