Maharlika Football Club, commonly referred to as Maharlika, is a Philippines, Philippine professional association football, football club based in Taguig that competes in the Philippines Football League. The club was founded in 2019 as an all-star Seven-a-side football, seven-a-side team that competed in the 7's Football League. The professional team was formed in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The club was co-founded by former Philippines national football team, Philippines national team defender Anton del Rosario, Cedric Hodreal, and ex RP U19 and DLSU stand-out Richard Calunsod. History Seven-a-side team (2019) Former Philippine national team defender Anton del Rosario announced that to open his 7's Football League's 2019 season, the league was launching a new competition called the Kampeon Cup 2019. McKinley Hill Stadium is a 2,000-seater football stadium at McKinley Hill in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. History McKinley Hill Stadium was erected by real estate developer Megaworld Corporation and constructed by All Asia Structures, Inc. The contract to develop the stadium intended for business process outsourcing (BPO) company teams and high school and collegiate teams, was signed in January 2012. Alexander Charles Luis "Aly" Borromeo (born 28 June 1983) is a former American-born Filipino footballer who played as a defender. He played for the Philippines national team. Club career Borromeo joined Kaya in 1999, and has been the captain of the first team for several years during his tenure. He went on a loan to Global during the 2010–11 season and led the club to be the champions of the 2010 UFL Cup during that season. On October 15, 2011, in his first match for Kaya in the 2011 UFL Cup against Diliman, Borromeo incurred an ACL injury, which sidelined him for the club and the national team.
