"Maharani" () is a song by the Filipino boy band Alamat. It is the second track from their first extended play (EP) ''Pasulong'' (), released on October 28, 2022. "Maharani" was released as a single on January 24, 2023, along with a music video starring Jhoanna Robles as Alamat member Taneo Sebastian's love interest. Filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana directed the video. Lyrically, "Maharani" is about unrequited love, particularly from the perspective of an admirer pining for a girl who is stuck in a loveless relationship with someone else. Its lyrics are written in Tagalog, although its title is a Sanskrit word referring to the wife of a ''maharaja'' (the Hindu equivalent of a prince or king). Alamat (Baybayin: ᜀᜎᜋᜆ᜔; ) (stylized in all caps) is a Filipino boy band formed in 2020 by Viva Artists Agency and Ninuno Media. The group consists of six members: Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomás, R-Ji and Alas. The members hail from different regions of the Philippines and sing in their own respective languages. Name "Alamat" translates to "legend" in English. Their creative director, Jason Paul Laxamana, came up with the name. The Maranao people ( Maranao: ''Bangsa'' ''Mëranaw''; Filipino: ''mga'' ''Maranaw''), also spelled Meranaw, Maranaw, and Mëranaw, is a predominantly Muslim Filipino ethnic group native to the region around Lanao Lake in the island of Mindanao. Singkil
Singkil is a Maranao people, Maranao royal dance from the Philippines. The dance features a prince and a princess weaving in and out of crisscrossed bamboo poles clapped in syncopated rhythm. While the man manipulates a sword and shield, the woman gracefully twirls a pair of fans. The dance takes its name from the belled accessory worn on the ankles of the Maranao princess. Aswang is an umbrella term for various shape-shifting evil creatures in Filipino folklore, such as vampires, ghouls, witches, viscera suckers, and transforming human-beast hybrids (usually dogs, cats, pigs).
