''Maharaja Gemunu (King Gemunu)'' () is a 2015 Sri Lankan Sinhala epic film directed by Jayantha Chandrasiri and produced by Gunapala Rathnasekara for Sipvin Films. It stars Uddika Premarathna and Jackson Anthony in lead roles along with Sriyantha Mendis and Yashoda Wimaladharma. Its music was composed by Nadeeka Guruge. It is the 1221st Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. The movie is based on the odyssey of King Gemunu (ruler of Sri Lanka 161–137 BC) who is renowned for defeating and overthrowing King Elara, the usurping Tamil prince from the Chola Kingdom, who had invaded the Kingdom of Rajarata in 205 BC. Kala Keerthi Jayantha Chandrasiri (:si:ජයන්ත චන්ද්රසිරි, ජයන්ත චන්ද්රසිරි; born 1959), is a Sri Lankan journalist, screenplay writer, television director, and filmmaker in Cinema of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan cinema. Kavan Tissa
Kavan Tissa, also known as Kaha Wan Thissa (''Golden-coloured Tissa)'' and Kaka Wanna Tissa (''Crow-coloured Tissa'') was the king of the Kingdom of Ruhuna in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Suranimala was a Sinhalese soldier in the 2nd century BCE. He was the second in command of King Dutugemunu’s army, and among ten of his best warriors known as ten giant warriors. Saddha Tissa (, ), also known as Sadaha Tiss (, ), was the king of Anuradhapura (Sri Lanka) from 137 BC to 119 BC. Saddha Tissa was the son of Kavan Tissa of Ruhuna and the brother of Dutthagamani. He was the ruler of Digamadulla, the present day eastern province of Sri Lanka.
