Mahamat Said Abdel Kani
Mahamat Said Abdel Kani (born 25 February 1970) is a former general of the Popular Front for the Rebirth of Central African Republic and commander of Séléka who was arrested in 2021 on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Central African Republic. Said is the first Séléka commander to face charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Biography Early life Born into a family of diamond collectors on 25 February 1970 in Bria, Said joined the Convention of Patriots for Justice and Peace (CPJP) rebel group in 2008 to avenge his nephew's death. He participated in a rebel attack from Bria in 2008. Séléka Said participated in the Battle of Bangui. After the victory of Séléka in March 2013, the Minister of Public Security, Noureddine Adam, appointed Said as the director of the Central African Bureau for the Repression of Organised Crime (OCRB) on 12 April 2013. Bria, Central African Republic
Bria is the capital of Haute-Kotto, one of the 14 Prefectures of the Central African Republic, prefectures of the Central African Republic. As of the 2003 census the town had a population of 35,204. Geography Bria is located on the Kotto River. History In 1930, a ginning factory was established in Bria by the Comouna cotton company. People detained by the International Criminal Court (ICC) are held in the ICC's detention centre, which is located within a Dutch prison in Scheveningen, The Hague. Sango (also spelled Sangho) is a major language spoken in Central Africa, especially the Central African Republic, southern Chad and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
