Magnetic Hill (Moncton)
The Magnetic Hill is a Canadian gravity hill, a type of optical illusion created by rising and descending terrain. It is located at the northwestern edge of the city of Moncton in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of New Brunswick. The general area is at the base of a ridge named "Lutes Mountain, New Brunswick, Lutes Mountain", which rises several hundred feet above the surrounding Petitcodiac River valley. History With the rise in tourism after the Second World War, the roughly 1 kilometre segment of gravel road became one of Moncton's prime tourist attractions (along with the tidal bore on the Petitcodiac River). A tidal bore, often simply given as bore in context, is a tidal phenomenon in which the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a wave (or waves) of water that travels up a river or narrow bay, reversing the direction of the river or bay's current. It is a strong tide that pushes up the river, against the current. Magnetic Hill Zoo
The Magnetic Hill Zoo (, formerly the Magnetic Hill Game Farm) is a zoo located inside the Magnetic Hill Park, in Moncton, New Brunswick. This park also features the Magnetic Hill, Magic Mountain and the Wharf Village. The zoo has over 400 animals, making it the largest zoo in Atlantic Canada. In 2008, the zoo was rated fourth on a list of Canada's top ten zoos. The zoo has been an accredited member of Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) since 1993. Magnetic Hill Concert Site is a live music venue in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. It is one of the largest music venues in Canada. Originally built in 1984 for Pope John Paul II to hold a papal mass during his tour of Canada, the site was redesigned in the 1990s as a concert venue.
