Magne Thormodsæter
Magne Thormodsæter (born 8 July 1973) is a Norwegian jazz musician (upright bass) and composer, known from a dozen releases and cooperations with the likes of Terje Rypdal, Ståle Storløkken, Paolo Vinaccia, Karin Krog and John Surman. Career Thormodsæter was born in Bergen. He was educated on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium, and is now associate Professor at Griegakademiet, Department of Music, University of Bergen. He has his own M.T. Trio, and also plays within bands like "Bungalow", Knut Kristiansen Trio, Lena Skjerdal Trio, Qvales Ensemble, The Wedding and Zumo. Bergen
Bergen (, ) is a city and municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestland county on the Western Norway, west coast of Norway. Vossajazz
Vossajazz or Vossa Jazz (established 19 December 1973) is an international jazz festival in Voss, Norway, which takes place annually during the week before Easter, and which also includes concerts throughout the year. The festival has been led by Trude Storheim since August 2007. History The first festival in 1974 was held the same weekend as the World Cup in Alpine skiing at Voss. The idea was that ski and jazz fit together. Since 1986 the festival has always taken place during the palm weekend. From 2007, the festival director has been Trude Storheim. In 1980 Vossajazz brought Rune Gustafsson and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen together for a power session in the old Voss cinema. This cooperation led to the album ''Just The Way You Are'' (1980). Nathalie Nordnes (born 22 November 1984, in Bergen) is a Norwegian singer. She released her first album on Virgin Records in 2003, and her fourth album in November 2011. Most of her recorded output is sung in English. Helén Eriksen (born 19 October 1971 in Dale, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (saxophone and vocals), songwriter and music arranger. Career In the period 1993 to 1995 she was a member of the Bergen-based pop group Animal Farm. In 1996 she released her first solo album ''Standards'' on the jazz record label Blue Note Records. The album was produced by hip-hop producer Tommy Tee and gave her the award as newcomer at Spellemannprisen 1996. __NOTOC__ Curling Legs Productions A/S (established 1992 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label with a catalogue encompassing all styles of jazz and improvised music. It was started by Knut Værnes and Morten Halle to release their own music. In 1994, Odin Records was licensed to Curling Legs from the Norwegian Jazz Forum, to continue the production of Norwegian jazz. In addition to Værnes and Halle, the third co-owner of Curling Legs is Helge Westbye, the director of the record label Grappa Music, and the label is part of FONO. ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) is an independent record label founded by Karl Egger, Manfred Eicher and Manfred Scheffner in Munich in 1969. A crime scene is any location that may be associated with a committed crime. Crime scenes contain physical evidence that is pertinent to a criminal investigation. This evidence is collected by crime scene investigators (CSI) and law enforcement. The location of a crime scene can be the place where the crime took place or can be any area that contains evidence from the crime itself. Scenes are not only limited to a location, but can be any person, place, or object associated with the criminal behaviours that occurred. The Core (band)
The Core (established 1999 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz band, known from a series of recordings. It was initiated by the drummer Espen Aalberg, and are performing music in the Coltrane/ Shorter tradition. Nattjazz
Bergen International Jazz Festival or Nattjazz, is one of the largest jazz festivals of Norway. The festival has a musical profile with an emphasis on ethnic and jazz, contemporary jazz. It is held annually in late May, coinciding with Festspillene i Bergen, and is located at Verftet in Bergen Municipality. Biography The festival was arranged for the first time in 1972 at ''Håndverkeren'' in Bergen (city), Bergen (now closed). It moved to ''Studentsenteret'' in 1978 (now demolished and rebuilt), and eventually to ''USF Verftet'' in 1994. In 2012 Nattjazz was held in different localities in ''Vågsbunnen'' because of the reconstructions of ''USF Verftet''. During the course of the festival most concerts are held indoors, but with some outdoor concerts too.
