''Magkakabaung'' (), is a 2014 Philippine drama independent film directed, written and edited by Jason Paul Laxamana. The film is known for winning the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the 3rd Hanoi International Film Festival in Vietnam in November 2014. The film was also an official entry at the New Wave Category of the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival. Plot A single father accidentally kills his eight-year-old daughter by administering the wrong medication. He finds it challenging not only to have her body buried but also to bury his culpability. Allen Dizon
Allen Dizon (born October 3, 1977), is a Filipino actor, model and producer, and former member of the Viva Hot Men. Dizon originally acted in daring roles, and later became an independent film actor and producer. In 2007, he won the Best Supporting Actor FAMAS award and Star Award for Movies in the film '' Twilight Dancers''. Dizon appeared in movies including ''Dukot'' (2009), ''Sigwa'' (2010), ''Patikul'' (2011), ''Deadline'' (2011), and ''Migrante'' (2012). 40th Metro Manila Film Festival
The 40th Metro Manila Film Festival was the edition of the annual film festival that is held in Metro Manila, Philippines and is organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). During the film festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine cinemas and theaters (except IMAX theaters) in order to showcase locally produced films. The film festival began on December 23, 2014 and was kicked off by the yearly Parade of Stars' float parade starting from the Quirino Grandstand. It is expected to run until January 7 of the following year. The awards night commenced on December 27, 2014 at the Philippine International Convention Center, and was hosted by Edu Manzano and Kris Aquino. It was also aired via delayed telecast on ABS-CBN. Jason Paul Laxamana (born ) is a Filipino filmmaker and writer. Early life and education Laxamana, a native of Angeles City, Pampanga, studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman where he pursued a degree in broadcast communication. Career Laxamana started his career in the entertainment industry as a volunteer production assistant in one of the episodes of ''Maalaala Mo Kaya'' directed by Jeffrey Jeturian. He also worked as personal assistant and stage manager of events by another director, Maryo J. de los Reyes. He worked as a script continuity for Maroy's '' A Love Story'' and as script contuinity again and local coordinator in Brillante Mendoza's '' Serbis'' which was filmed in Laxaman'as home province of Pampanga.
