Magic Boy (film)
''Magic Boy'', known in Japan as , is a 1959 Japanese animated feature film released on December 25, 1959. Released as Toei Animation's second theatrical anime, the film was released in theaters in the United States by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on June 22, 1961, making it the first anime film to be released in the country, followed by '' The Tale of the White Serpent'' on July 8, 1961. Story In medieval Japan, a boy named Sasuke and his sister live in a forest along with several young animals of different species. One day, one of the animals (a young deer) is grabbed by an eagle and thrown into a lake. Sasuke and another animal jump into the lake to save it, but a monstrous salamander arrives and devours one of the animals. Sasuke tries to fight the monster, but is defeated. Kazuo Dan
was a Japanese novelist and poet. Biography Dan was born in what is now part of Tsuru, Yamanashi Prefecture, to a family originally from Kyūshū. His father's work required frequent changes of residence, so Dan grew up with his grandparents in Yanagawa from age 6 onwards. His parents were divorced when Dan was nine, and he subsequently moved to live with his father in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, where he led a solitary life, walking over hills and fields. In 1928, at age 16, he entered Fukuoka City High School, where he began his literary life by publishing poems, novels and plays in the school magazine. In 1932 he entered the Tokyo Imperial University from which he received a degree in economics. After graduation, Dan dedicated himself entirely to writing, and in 1944 won the Noma Prize while serving as a newspaper war correspondent. is a 24-episode anime series about the young Sarutobi Sasuke, a legendary ninja. It was first aired from October 9, 1979, to April 29, 1980, on Tokyo 12 Channel (now TV Tokyo), and was later dubbed in several languages.
