Maggie Kernan
Maggie McCullough Kernan is a former First Lady of the State of Indiana, having served in that role from September 13, 2003, to January 10, 2005, during the administration of her husband Governor Joe Kernan. Prior to her time as First Lady, Kernan worked as an executive at 1st Source bank and was active in numerous community initiatives in her hometown of South Bend, Indiana. First Lady of Indiana For years Kernan was a volunteer with Dream Team for Unity, a mentoring program for students in the South Bend Public Schools system. Believing strongly in the impact of mentorship on the lives of youth, as First Lady she launched a statewide effort to recruit mentors for seventh graders in Indiana's schools. Judy O'Bannon
Judith "Judy" O'Bannon Willsey (born April 30, 1935) is the former First Lady of the State of Indiana, serving in that role from January 13, 1997, to September 13, 2003, during the administration of her husband Governor Frank O'Bannon. She has been a leader in community development and historic preservation throughout much of her life, including having helped launch and then serving as chair of the Indiana Main Street program, and serving on the boards of the Indiana Landmarks foundation, the Indiana State Museum and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She is also an Emmy-winning host and producer of the WFYI-TV public television series ''Communities Building Community'' and ''Judy O'Bannon's Foreign Exchange'' as well as several one-time specials, and as the chair of O'Bannon Publishing Company, published two weekly newspapers, including the award-winning ''The Corydon Democrat''. Roger O. Parent is an American politician who served as the 29th mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Early life and education Parent was born Grand Isle, Maine. He attended elementary school in Grand Isle, Maine. He graduated from Van Buren Boys High School salutatorian of his class. Parent attended St. Francis Xavier University, where he graduated in 1961 magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics. From October 1961 through October 1963, Parent served in the Peace Corps. He was a member of the inaugural class of Peace Corps volunteers. The Awesome Foundation for the arts and sciences is an international network of autonomous 'chapters' (groups) of philanthropists that provide small grants for projects to "people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe." Most chapters consist of ten trustees who pool contributions in a crowd-funding model and award a $1,000 grant each month to a project and person of their choice.
