Maggie Jackson
Maggie Jackson is a former England netball international and netball coach. She was head coach when England were bronze medallists at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She was Mavericks head coach when they won the 2007–08 and 2011 Netball Superleague titles. In 2012, she was awarded an MBE. In 2020 she was inducted into England Netball's Hall of Fame. Playing career England Between 1984 and 1987, Jackson represented England. She formed a defensive partnership with Kendra Slawinski and played at the 1985 World Games and the 1987 World Netball Championships. Coaching career Birmingham Blaze During the Super Cup era, Jackson worked with Kendra Slawinski and Colette Thomson at Birmingham Blaze for the first three seasons. Mavericks In 2005, Jackson helped set up the Netball Superleague's Mavericks franchise. The England national netball team, also known as the Vitality Roses, represent England Netball in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Netball Quad Series, the Taini Jamison Trophy, the Fast5 Netball World Series and the European Netball Championship. They have also competed at the World Games. England made their Test debut in 1949. Their best result in a major tournament is a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. 2011 Netball Superleague Grand Final ...
The 2011 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Hertfordshire Mavericks and Surrey Storm. Mavericks would win their second title. This was Mavericks sixth successive grand final while Surrey Storm's were making their debut appearance. Between 2011 and 2016 Surrey Storm would play in five out of the six Netball Superleague grand finals. However in their first three they finished as runners up. In 2011 they lost 57–46 to Mavericks. Surrey Storm finished top of the table after the regular season but subsequently lost to both Team Bath and Hertfordshire Mavericks in the playoffs. For a fourth season out of five, Team Bath defeated Mavericks in the grand final. The 2012 Fast5 Netball World Series was the 4th Fast5 Netball World Series. New Zealand hosted Australia, England, Jamaica, Malawi and South Africa in a series, played in November 2012, at Auckland's Vector Arena. With a team coached by Waimarama Taumaunu and captained by Laura Langman, New Zealand won the series for the third time after defeating England 23–21 in the final. The 2012 Netball Quad Series was the inaugural Netball Quad Series series. It was co-hosted by Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand. It featured Australia national netball team, Australia, England national netball team, England, New Zealand national netball team, New Zealand and South Africa national netball team, South Africa playing each other in a series of twelve Test match (netball), netball test matches in October and November 2012.
