Magdi Rúzsa
Magdolna "Magdi" Rúzsa (; ; born 28 November 1985) is a Hungarian singer who won the 2006 title of ''Megasztár'' (''"Megastar"''), Hungary's nationwide talent search, that resembles, but is not based on, ''Pop Idol''. As the winner of the category "Newcomer of the Year" at the Fonogram Hungarian Music Awards in 2007, she represented Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, Finland with the song "Unsubstantial Blues". She finished ninth and won a Marcel Bezençon Award in the Best Composer category. She often performs songs by her favorite singer, Janis Joplin. Biography Born in Vrbas into the Hungarian ethnic minority in Serbia, Rúzsa studied in Subotica as an obstetric nurse. She was discovered in 2005, after winning the third season of ''Megasztár'' (''Megastar'') in Hungary. Vrbas (town)
Vrbas ( sr-Cyrl, Врбас) is a town and municipality located in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. As of 2022, the town has a population of 20,892, while the municipality has 36,601 inhabitants. Name Its name stems from the word for 'willow' in Serbian. Hungária was a Hungarian pop-rock band formed by singer/guitarist/keyboardist Miklós Fenyő in 1967. Despite periodic suppression by the Hungarian Communist regime, by the early 1980s Hungária was one of the country's most popular bands. History Miklós Fenyő had lived in the United States for a time. He entered the Hungarian music scene in 1962 and started his own band Syconor in 1964. In 1967 he formed a songwriting partnership with lyricist István S. Nagy, and formed Hungária as an outlet for his songs. The earliest Hungária songs were in the style of beat music. Hungary was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Unsubstantial Blues", composed by Magdi Rúzsa, with lyrics by Imre Mózsik, and performed by Rúzsa herself.
