''Magaraasi'' () is a 1967 Indian Tamil-language film directed by M. A. Thirumugam, starring Jayalalithaa and Ravichandran. It is noted for being the debut film of the music composer duo Shankar–Ganesh. The film was released on 14 April 1967. Shankar–Ganesh
Shankar–Ganesh is an Indian music director duo who has worked on Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu movies for around 50 years. They also directed one movie '' Jagathalaprathapan'' in 1990 Personal life Shankar was the younger brother of music director C. R. Subbaraman while Ganesh was the son-in-law of G. N. Velumani who produced films like ''Bhaagapirivinai'' and ''Paalum Pazhamum''. Career They started as assistants to Tamil music composers M. S. Viswanathan and T. K. Ramamoorthy in 1964 and later the duo assisted M.S.Viswanathan alone from 1965 till 1967. When Shankar Ganesh were composing for a stage play titled "Paadi Parandha Kuyil", Kannadhasan started his own film titled "Nagarathil Thirudargal" in which he introduced Shankar Ganesh as music directors. Ravichandran (Tamil Actor)
Ravichandran (30 March 1942 – 25 July 2011) was a Malaysian-born Indian actor who played lead hero roles in Tamil films from 1964 to 1979. He has also acted in supporting roles from 1986, and directed a few films. He was given the title of "Kalaingnar Thilagham" in many of the on-screen credits of films starring him in the lead role. He was also called "Puratchi Kalaignar" (Refer: ''Anandha Bairavi'' Tamil Movie Title Scene). Before entering cinema, during his studies in Trichy, he has acted in two dramas, namely, ''Aanaiyidungal Anna'' and ''Udhaya Suriyan''. Sandow Marudur Marudachalamurthy Ayyavoo Chinnappa Thevar (28 June 1915 – 8 September 1978) was a film producer of Tamil cinema in the mid-1950s through the 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for his films featuring animals, and has produced numerous movies with M. G. Ramachandran as lead actor (16 movies with under his famous banner: ''Thevar Films''). ''Pattanathil Bhootham'' () is a 1967 Indian Tamil-language fantasy comedy film, directed and co-edited by M. V. Raman, written by Javar Seetharaman and produced by Venus Pictures. S. Yesudas (10 September 1931 – 20 November 2022) known by his stage name Aaroor Dass, was an Indian stage, film and television Screenwriter who was active in Tamil cinema during the latter part of the 20th century. Aaroor Dass has written the story and dialogues for over 1000 films, who dominate the Tamil film for more than 40 years. He wrote his first film for actor Sivaji Ganesan's '' Pasamalar'' (1961). Puthandu (), also known as Tamil New Year (), is the first day of year on the Tamil calendar that is traditionally celebrated as a festival by Tamils. The festival date is set with the solar cycle of the solar Hindu calendar, as the first day of the month of ''Chittirai''. It falls on or about 14 April every year on the Gregorian calendar. ''Kalki'' is a Tamil-language weekly magazine published from Chennai, India. The magazine was established by Kalki Krishnamurthy, a popular Tamil novelist and Indian freedom fighter, in 1941. T Sadasivam was the magazine's co-founder. The magazine is known for its publication of historic novels such as '' Ponniyin Selvan'' and '' Sivagamiyin Sabadham''. Singer Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, guru of M S Subbulakshmi, and music critic S V Seshadri were also involved with the magazine in its coverage of music. Kalki Krishnamurthy also edited the magazine, which is published on a weekly basis. During his term the magazine was much more respected due to its quality.
