Odense Steel Shipyard
Odense Steel Shipyard ( da, Odense Staalskibsværft) was a Danish shipyard company located in Odense. It was best known for building container ships for its parent group, A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, including the Mærsk E class in 2006 which at the time were the biggest container ships in the world. The global financial crisis led to Maersk announcing its closure in 2009 and the last new ship was delivered in January 2012. Company history The first yard was opened in 1918–1919 by the A.P. Møller company. A new yard with bigger and better facilities was constructed 1957–1959 on a new site located in Munkebo a few kilometres outside Odense proper. The ''Edinburgh'' class (also known as the ''Pearl'' class) is a series of post-Panamax container built for Rickmers Group and Zodiac Maritime and were chartered to Maersk The ships were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries. History The series was ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2007 to 2008 and delivered starting July 2010. The client of the series is the Hamburg-based Rickmers Group and were chartered to Maersk. The and are also based on the same design, but both broader. Maersk H-class Container Ship
The H class is a class of container ships operated by the Danish shipping company Maersk Line. The ships were built by Hyundai Heavy Industries at their shipyard located in Ulsan, South Korea. The ships are each long and wide. The ship has 21 container bays and can carry a maximum of 21 TEU containers wide on deck. They are not designed with a specific speed and draft in mind and thus can be deployed on both east-west and north-south maritime routes. The first nine ships were ordered by Maersk in 2015. The E class comprises eight 14,770 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container ships. Each sister ship bears a name beginning with the letter "E". Until 2012, they were the largest container ship ever constructed, and are among the longest ships currently in use at long and wide. They are owned by the Danish A. P. Moller-Maersk Group. Gunhilde (or Gunnhild) (died 13 November 1002) is said to have been the sister of Sweyn Forkbeard, King of Denmark, and the daughter of Harald Bluetooth. She was married to Pallig, a Dane who served the King of England, Æthelred the Unready, as ealdorman of Devonshire. She is supposed to have been a hostage in England when she was killed in the St. Brice's Day massacre, ordered by Æthelred. Pallig is reported alternatively to have been killed in the massacre or to have provoked the massacre by deserting Æthelred's service.
