Madison Genesis
Madison Genesis was a British-based professional road cycling team, registered at UCI Continental level and competing in domestic and European competitions between 2013 and 2019. Founded in 2013, the team was announced in July 2012 as a platform for developing UK road cycling talent. Team manager Roger Hammond stated that the team's success would be judged on how many riders progress on to the next level of UCI Professional Continental or World Tour racing. Since, Alex Peters – one of Hammond's first signings – joined world tour Team Sky for 2016, while Scott Davies joined Dimension Data for 2018. Mark Simon Cavendish (born 21 May 1985) is a Manx professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . As a track cyclist he specialises in the madison, points race, and scratch race disciplines; as a road racer he is a sprinter. He is widely considered one of the greatest road sprinters of all time, and in 2021 was called "the greatest sprinter in the history of the Tour and of cycling" by Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France. Tour de Normandie is a road bicycle race held annually in the region of Normandy, France. The race started in 1939, but was not held in the periods of 1940–1955 and 1960–1980. Tour De Yorkshire
The Tour de Yorkshire is a road cycling race in the historic county of Yorkshire, England which first took place in May 2015. It is promoted by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) and is rated as a 2.HC event as part of the UCI Europe Tour. The idea for the race arose as a legacy event following the success of the visit of the 2014 Tour de France to the county. The first two stages of the 2014 Tour, also organised by ASO, from Leeds to Harrogate, and York to Sheffield, were nicknamed ''Le Tour de Yorkshire''. From 2015 to 2017 it was a three-day race but in 2018 it expanded to four days. The race took place in the days before the May Day bank holiday which, in Britain, is on the first Monday in May. Erick Rowsell (born 29 July 1990) is a British former professional road bicycle racing, road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2012 and 2019 for the , , and teams. He now works as the Elite Road Racing Manager for British Cycling, having previously been a member of their Olympic Development Programme as an endurance rider. Rás Tailteann (; "Tailteann Race"), often shortened to the Rás, is an annual international cycling stage race, held in Ireland. Traditionally held in May, the race returned after a hiatus in 2022 as 5 day event held in June. By naming the race Rás Tailteann the original organisers, members of the National Cycling Association (NCA), were associating the cycle race with the Tailteann Games, a Gaelic festival in early medieval Ireland. The event was founded by Joe Christle in 1953 and was organised under the rules of the National Cycling Association (NCA). At that time competitive cycling in Ireland was deeply divided between three cycling organisations, the NCA, Cumann Rothaiochta na hÉireann (CRÉ) and the Northern Ireland Cycling Federation (NICF). Dean Downing
Dean "Deano" Downing (born 24 January 1975) is an English retired bicycle racer, specialising in road cycling who last rode for NFTO Pro Cycling. Downing was educated at Wales High School and Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Construction Management. He rode for the DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed team in 2006 and is the older brother of former British champion Russell Downing. In 2004, he represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships. For the 2007 season, Downing rode for the original Rapha Condor team and focussed on the British Premier Calendar. In 2008 the team became Rapha-Condor-Recycling.co.uk. Tour Series
The Tour Series is an annual series of cycling criterium races held in the United Kingdom since 2009. It is televised by ITV4 in the UK. The competition emphasises team effort with individual wins deemed less important. The races are held over 1 hour of racing plus 5 laps. The team standings for each round are calculated by adding together the positions of the top three riders of each team (5 riders start for each team) and the team with the lowest score wins, and get 10 points for the overall championship. Each team gets 1 point less than the one in front of them, so second gets 9, third gets 8, and so on. In addition, there is the sprint competition. There are three sprints every race, and the top five riders are awarded points based on place: 1st, 5; 2nd, 4; 3rd, 3; 4th, 2 and 5th, 1.
