Madhya Vidyalaya
The "Madhya Vidyalaya (Central College)" concept ( English: Central College) is a type of state school in Sri Lanka. Originally mooted in the 1930s by C.W.W. Kannangara, 54 Central Colleges were founded between 1943 and 1947 as part of his initiative to establish free education in Sri Lanka. The first of these was C. W. W. Kannangara Central College in Matugama, followed by others in areas such as Horana, Henegama, Ibbagamuwa, Weeraketiya, Anuradhapura, Kuliyapitiya, Madampe, Hunumulla, Veyangoda, Ruwanwella, Pinnawala and Dickwella & more With more central colleges established since the original drive in the 1940s, most such schools are now funded and administered by the local provincial council, while a few, by virtue of their status as ''National Schools'', come under the direct purview of the Ministry of Education An education ministry is a national or subnational government agency politically responsible for education. Education In Sri Lanka
Education in Sri Lanka has a long history that dates back two millennia. While the Constitution of Sri Lanka does not provide free education as a fundamental right, the constitution mentions that 'the complete eradication of illiteracy and the assurance to all persons of the right to universal and equal access to education at all levels" in its section on directive principles of state policy at (27(2)(H). Sri Lanka's population had an adult literacy rate of 96.3% in 2015, which is above average by world and regional standards. Ministry Of Education (Sri Lanka)
The Ministry of Education (; ) is a ministry of the Government of Sri Lanka that directs the formulation and implementation of policies related to primary, secondary, and tertiary education in Sri Lanka. Currently, Sri Lanka allocates less than 2% of its GDP on education, which falls well below the international benchmark of 4-6%, making it one of lowest in the region, UNICEF emphasised until 2025. Provincial governments of Sri Lanka are the devolved governments of the nine Provinces of Sri Lanka. Dickwella
Dikwella, also known as Dickwella and as Dikwella South, is a small coastal market town in the Matara district in Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It is located east of the city of Matara. Dikwella is noted for its long sandy beach which is protected by headlands, reefs and sand-bars, making it safer for swimming. Dikwella is the location of Sri Lanka's largest seated Buddha statue, which is tall. Walls in the rooms of the building behind the statue are decorated with a 'library' of colourful pictures depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha and punishments of miscreants. Pinnawala is a village in Kegalle District of Sri Lanka and is around 90 km from the capital, Colombo. It is well known for its elephant orphanage. Madampe
Madampe is a town situated in the Puttalam District, of North Western Province, Sri Lanka. Madampe is a town with historical importance which was ruled by king Thaniwallbha according to the history. There are two areas: Old town and New town which is also known as Silva town. Old town is located on Colombo - Negombo - Chilaw main road. The new town is located on Kuliyapitiya road. The old town area is mainly occupied by Muslim community and consists of many shops. Kuliyapitiya
Kuliyapitiya is the second largest town in Kurunegala District, North Western Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. It is located north-east of Colombo and from Kurunegala. Kuliyapitiya is home to the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. Coconut and paddy cultivation are the main economic activities in this area. The town centre includes commerce and retail enterprises.
