Madhavan (actor)
Ranganathan Madhavan (born 1 June 1970) is an Indian actor, screenwriter, film producer and film director who predominantly works in Tamil and Hindi cinema. He has won one National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards South, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and five SIIMA Awards. As of 2023, Madhavan is the President of FTII, Pune. Madhavan attained his first break in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam's romantic drama '' Alai Payuthey'' (2000) and followed it with romantic roles in Gautham Vasudev Menon's directorial debut ''Minnale'' (2001) and Madras Talkies' '' Dumm Dumm Dumm'' (2001). ''Minnale'' () is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language musical romance film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in his directoral debut. The story was written by Menon and Vipul D. Shah. The film, starring Madhavan, Abbas and Reema Sen, tells the story of a man stealing the identity of his former college foe, to pursue his lady love, and the eventual repercussions he has to face when his cover is blown before he could come clean. The film's original soundtrack composed by debutant music composer Harris Jayaraj, became popular prior to the film's release. The cinematography of the film was handled by R. D.
