Madelaine Edlund
Madelaine Nathalie Edlund (born 15 September 1985) is a Swedish former footballer who played for the Swedish national team and clubs including Umeå, Tyresö and Saint Louis Athletica. Her mother is from Chile. Club career During the 2007–2008 UEFA Women's Champions League quarterfinals, Edlund scored twice against FCL Rapide Wezemaal in Umeå IK's 6–0 victory. In 2010 Edlund had a short spell with American Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) club Saint Louis Athletica. She started one game and made three substitute appearances before the team folded. Edlund collected her third Damallsvenskan title in 2012, after Tyresö's dramatic last day win over Malmö. She scored the winning goal after Caroline Seger's shot had hit the post. Edlund returned to training with Tyresö FF ahead of the 2014 season, after missing much of the previous campaign due to maternity leave. Sara Caroline Seger (born 19 March 1985) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a midfielder and club captain for FC Rosengård in the Damallsvenskan league. She is the current captain of the Swedish national football team. Club career Linköpings An industrious central midfielder, Seger played for Linköpings FC from 2005 to 2009 and served as the club's captain. Linköpings finished in the top four of the Damallsvenskan in four of Seger's five seasons with the team. Their highest finishes were second place in 2008 and first place in 2009. The team also captured the Svenska Cupen on three occasions in 2006, 2008 and 2009. Svenska Supercupen was a one-off fixture in Swedish football played between the previous season's Damallsvenskan champions and winners of the Svenska Cupen. The fixture was played before the start of Damallsvenskan. The first final was played in 2007. The Damallsvenskan, Swedish for ''ladies all-Swedish'' and also known as OBOS Damallsvenskan for sponsorship reasons, is the highest division of women's football in Sweden. It is also referred to as the women's Allsvenskan. The term Allsvenskan alone is used to reference the men's division. The division consists of a league of 14 teams. From 2013, the Damallsvenskan began operating on a system of promotion and relegation with the Elitettan. The two lowest placed teams are relegated to the Elitettan, and the two highest placed teams from the Elitettan are promoted in their place. Starting with the 2022 season the league has been expanded from 12 to 14 teams. The first Swedish women's national championship was played in 1973. The 2013 UEFA Women's Championship, commonly referred to as Women's Euro 2013, was the 11th European Championship for women's national football teams organised by UEFA.
