Maddy Brancatisano
Madeline Brancatisano (born 5 September 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Gold Coast in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She has previously played for Melbourne and Richmond. Early life and junior football Brancatisano hails from the north-east Melbourne suburb of Doreen and grew up playing basketball from the age of six. She attended high school at Catholic Ladies College, Eltham and later Box Hill Senior Secondary College. Brancastisano first took up football at under 16s level, filling in for a Laurimar side in the junior ranks of the Northern Football Netball League. She first played representative football with the Northern Knights during their inaugural TAC Cup season in 2017, where she was captained in the side by her older sister Lily. Northern Knights
The Northern Knights is an Australian rules football club playing in the NAB League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based in Preston, representing the northern suburban area of Melbourne. The Knights are one of the six original clubs set up as part of a plan by the Victorian State Football League to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft, which allows U18 players the opportunity to be selected by AFL clubs. VFL Women's
VFL Women's (VFLW) is the major state-level women's Australian rules football league in Victoria. The league initially comprised the six premier division clubs and the top four division 1 clubs from the now-defunct Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL), and has since evolved into what is also the second primary competition for AFL Women's (AFLW) clubs in Victoria. The competition has been held concurrently with the AFLW since 2021. Following the 2017 season, the VFL Women's was reconfigured to affiliate teams more closely with AFL clubs. 2021 AFL Women's Season
The 2021 AFL Women's season was the fifth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia. The season featured fourteen clubs, ran from 28 January until 17 April, and comprised a 9-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. The premiership was won by the for the first time, after it defeated by 18 points in the AFL Women's Grand Final. Courtney Jones (born 10 September 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Richmond in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She has previously played for Carlton and the Gold Coast. AFL Women's career Jones began her AFLW career at Carlton and was traded to the Gold Coast Suns in June 2022. In March 2023, Jones was traded to Richmond in a straight swap for Maddy Brancatisano. The reason for the trade was because Jones needed to return to Melbourne to be close to her younger sister who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January.
