Bharat Scouts And Guides
The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) is the national Scouting and Guiding association of India. The national headquarters of BSG is recognised by the Government of India. Scouting was founded in India in 1909 as an overseas branch of the Scout Association and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1938. Guiding in India started in 1911 and was amongst the founder members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1928, also covering present-day Bangladesh and Pakistan at that time. The BSG serves 3,835,094 Scouts (as of 2021) and 1,286,161 Guides (as of 2005). History Boy Scouts Scouting was officially founded in British India in 1909, first starting at the Bishop Cotton Boys' School in Bangalore. Vivian Bose
Justice Vivian Bose (also rendered V. V. N. Bose) (9 June 1891 – 29 November 1983), Judge of the Supreme Court of India, served as the National Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides from November 1957 to November 1959. Scouting for Indian Boys was started by Justice Bose, Madan Mohan Malaviya, Hridayanath Kunzru, Annie Besant and George Arundale, in 1913. Justice Bose was a member of the World Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1947 until 1949. He was also the President of the International Commission of Jurists. Justice Bose is known for breaking new ground in law, the significance of which came to be realized in later years. Hridya Nath Kunzru
Hridya Nath Kunzru (1 October 1887 – 3 April 1978) was an Indian freedom fighter and a public figure. He was a long-time Parliamentarian, serving in various legislative bodies at the Provincial and Central level for nearly four decades. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India (1946–50) that drew up the Constitution of India. He was also keenly interested in international affairs and co-founded the Indian Council of World Affairs and the Indian School of International Studies. Early life and education Kunzru was the second son of Kashmiri Pandit Ayodhya Nath Kunzru and his second wife Jankeshwari. He was born at Allahabad on 1 October 1887. Even though he got married in 1908, his wife died in 1911 during childbirth, followed by the death of the child six months later.
