Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, sometimes known as MadGibbs, is an American Hip hop music, hip hop duo formed in San Francisco, California, in 2011. The duo is composed of Gary, Indiana-based Freddie Gibbs rapping and Oxnard, California native Madlib producing. The duo has released two studio albums, ''Piñata (Freddie Gibbs and Madlib album), Piñata'' in 2014 and ''Bandana (album), Bandana'' in 2019. They have also released five extended plays (EPs) together. Otis Lee Jackson Jr. (born October 24, 1973), known professionally as Madlib, is an American record producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, and rapper. Critically acclaimed for his eclectic, music sample, sample-heavy production style, he is regarded as one of the most influential producers in modern hip-hop. His frequent collaborators include MF Doom, MF DOOM (as Madvillain), J Dilla (as Champion Sound, Jaylib), Freddie Gibbs (as Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, MadGibbs), Talib Kweli, and Erykah Badu.#Aziri2002, Aziri (2002). Deeper (EP)
''Deeper'' is the third EP by hip hop duo MadGibbs, which consists of Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs and California hip hop musician Madlib. It was released on September 24, 2013, through Madlib Invazion. Following up on their EPs '' Thuggin''' (2011) and ''Shame'' (2012), it serves as the final EP in the trilogy before the release of their full-length LP, ''Piñata'' (2014). On the EP, "Deeper" is an ode to hip hop in the mold of Common's " I Used to Love H.E.R.". Gibbs showcases the yin and yang of heartbreak and anger on the title track which is the tale of two men and the women that "cut them deep." The B-side, "Harold's", is a nostalgic ode to the famous Harold's Chicken Shack – most known for their Chicago locations, but also located in Gibbs' hometown of Gary, Indiana – that served as the backdrop to many of his seminal life experiences. Freddie Gibbs
Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born June 14, 1982), better known by his stage name Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper and songwriter. He signed with Interscope Records in 2006 and recorded his debut album for the label; however, its release was cancelled and he was dropped from the label due to executive shakeups. Gibbs later signed with Jeezy, Young Jeezy's CTE World in 2011 and released a number of mixtapes through the label, including the acclaimed ''Baby Face Killa'' (2012). After leaving CTE in early 2013, Gibbs formed the record label ESGN to release his ESGN, debut studio album of the same name in June of that year. Keep Cool Records is an American record label founded by Tunji Balogun, alongside Right Hand Music Group founder Courtney Stewart, A&R Jon Tanners and marketing executive Jared Sherman. The label is a joint venture with RCA Records, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America. History Tunji Balogun began working with RCA Records as an A&R representative, where he signed and developed artists Bryson Tiller, GoldLink, Khalid, Wizkid, and H.E.R. He was also involved in the partnership with RCA and Top Dawg Entertainment that signed SZA, bringing Cozz to Dreamville Records, as well as contributing in signing Childish Gambino to RCA. Shame (EP)
''Shame'' is the second EP by hip hop duo MadGibbs, which consists of Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs and California hip hop musician Madlib. Preceded by their 2011 EP, '' Thuggin''', it was released on July 10, 2012, through Madlib Invazion in both digital and 12-inch vinyl formats. The 8-track EP includes two vocal tracks, "Shame" featuring singer BJ the Chicago Kid and "Terrorist", as well as instrumentals, a cappellas and two bonus beats by Madlib. On August 8, 2012, the EP's music video, presented by Madlib Invasion and DD172 Films, was published online. The Jonah Schwartz-directed visual starts off with a portion of "Later That Night", then transitions to "Terrorist", then changes to the second bonus beat, "The Morning After", which finally leads to the title track. ''Piñata'' is the first collaborative studio album by American rapper Freddie Gibbs and record producer Madlib, also known as MadGibbs. It was released on March 18, 2014, by Madlib Invazion. Entirely produced by Madlib, the 17-track LP features contributions from Raekwon, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Domo Genesis, Scarface, BJ the Chicago Kid, Ab-Soul, Casey Veggies, Meechy Darko and Mac Miller, among others. The album was recorded by Josh "The Goon" Fadem and Glenn "G-Wiz" Browder between January 2011 and October 2013. It was mixed and mastered by Dave Cooley for Elysian Masters, except for "Shame" and "Terrorist", mixed by Kelly Hibbert.
