Macrae Sykes
Macrae Sykes (1910 - October 13, 1996) was an American financier who served as chairman of the American Stock Exchange in the 1960s. Early life and education Sykes was born in Bayside, Queens, and graduated from Columbia University in 1933. His grandfather was Major General George Sykes, who commanded the V Corps in the Army of the Potomac and fought in the Battle of Gettysburg and he is also descendant of James Sykes, who represented the state of Delaware in the Continental Congress and James Sykes, Jr., a former Governor of Delaware. He was captain of the varsity crew team at Columbia. A sailor, Sykes also partook in the 1937 Star World Championship and helped financed the United States team in the 1970 America's Cup. Bayside, Queens
Bayside is a neighborhood located in the New York City borough of Queens. It is bounded by Whitestone to the northwest, the Long Island Sound and Little Neck Bay to the northeast, Douglaston to the east, Oakland Gardens to the south, and Fresh Meadows to the west. CNN Money ranked Bayside as one of the most expensive housing markets nationally when analyzing comparable detached homes throughout the United States. Despite its large housing stock of free-standing homes, it nationally ranks high in population density. The first known written occurrence of the name Bayside was in a deed dated 1798, written as Bay Side. The Star World Championship are international sailing regattas in the Star class organized by the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association and sanctioned by World Sailing. American sailor Lowell North has won the most titles, with five titles between 1945 and 1973 and another seven podiums. Brazilian crew Bruno Prada won also five titles between 2007 and 2019. The most crowned skipper-crew combinations are Italian duo Agostino Straulino and Nicolò Rode and Brazilian duo Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada, with three titles each.
