Mack A. Jordan
Mack Alvin Jordan (December 8, 1928 – November 15, 1951) was a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions on November 15, 1951. Collins, Mississippi
Collins is a city in Covington County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,586 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Covington County. History From Williamsburg Depot to Collins Collins was originally incorporated as Williamsburg Depot in 1899. The Gulf and Ship Island Railroad had completed construction, and bypassed Williamsburg, the county seat at that time. The sawmills moved to the new town of Williamsburg Depot in order to be closer to the railroad. As lumber was an important industry during the time, the town moved with them. Not long after, Williamsburg Depot grew to a town of 6,000 - 7,000 people. Eventually, the difficulties of having such a long town name, Williamsburg Depot, became clear. The length caused many people to write it over their stamps, voiding the postage. A posthumous award is an award that is granted after the recipient has died. Many prizes, medals, and awards can be granted posthumously. Military decorations Military decorations, such as the Victoria Cross or the Medal of Honor, are often given posthumously. The title Hero of the Soviet Union was posthumously given, but the Gold Star medal was not awarded itself. During World War II, many countries practiced the granting of posthumous awards. Kimhwa County is a ''kun'', or county, in Kangwŏn province, North Korea. Geography Kimhwa county is primarily mountainous, but the county's southeastern region is low-lying.
