"Machine Gun" is a song written by American musician Jimi Hendrix, and originally recorded for the 1970 ''Band of Gypsys'' album, with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. It is a lengthy, loosely defined (Jam session, jam-based) protest of the Vietnam War. At a performance in Berkeley, California, Hendrix introduced the song: Hendrix's 12-minute performance of "Machine Gun" for the ''Band of Gypsys'' is often lauded as his greatest, and is considered a stunning display of guitar virtuosity. The Hit Factory is a recording studio in New York City owned and operated by Troy Germano. History In 1969, songwriter Jerry Ragavoy opened a recording studio in New York City and named it ''The Hit Factory.'' On March 6, 1975, Edward Germano, a singer, record producer, and one of the principal owners of the Record Plant Studios New York, purchased The Hit Factory (located at 353 West 48th Street) from Ragavoy. Germano incorporated The Hit Factory into a business, redesigned its studios, and created the logo it uses to this day. At that time, The Hit Factory consisted of 2 studios; Studio A2 and Studio A6. ''Live at Berkeley'' is a live album by American rock musician Jimi Hendrix. It documents his second performance at the Berkeley Community Theatre on May 30, 1970, and was released by MCA Records on September 16, 2003. Background Hendrix performed in Berkeley about one month into his The Cry of Love Tour with bassist Billy Cox and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The set list was fairly typical for the toura mix of popular tunes and some newer material. "Hey Joe", " Foxey Lady", " Purple Haze", and " Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" had been in Hendrix's concert repertoire since he first recorded them. Audio feedback (also known as acoustic feedback, simply as feedback) is a positive feedback situation that may occur when an acoustic path exists between an audio output (for example, a loudspeaker) and its audio input (for example, a microphone or guitar pickup). Wah-wah Pedal
A wah-wah pedal, or simply wah pedal, is a type of effects pedal designed for electric guitar that alters the timbre of the input signal to create a distinctive sound, mimicking the human voice saying the onomatopoeic name "wah-wah". The pedal sweeps a band-pass filter up and down in frequency to create a spectral glide. The wah-wah effect originated in the 1920s, with trumpet or trombone players finding they could produce an expressive crying tone by moving a mute in, and out of the instrument's bell. This was later simulated with electronic circuitry for the electric guitar when the wah-wah pedal was invented.
