Macedonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2008
Macedonia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song " Let Me Love You", written by Rade Vrčakovski, and performed by Tamara, Vrčak and Adrian. The Macedonian participating broadcaster, Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), organised Skopje Fest 2008 in order to select its entry for the contest. Fifteen entries competed in the competition on 23 February 2008 where "" performed by Tamara, Vrčak and Adrian was selected following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public televote. The song was later translated from Macedonian to English for Eurovision and was titled "Let Me Love You". Macedonia was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 22 May 2008. Performing during the show in position 18, "Let Me Love You" was not announced among the 10 qualifying entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Macedonian Radio Television
Macedonian Radio Television (), or MRT () for short, is the public broadcasting organisation of North Macedonia. It was founded in 1993 by the Assembly of North Macedonia, Macedonian Assembly. Elvir Mekić
Elvir Mekić () (born 15 October 1981) is a Macedonian musician. He gained popularity after performing his single "Opasno" with Maja Sazdanovska at Ohrid Fest in 2007. He went on to release a second and third single from his debut album, '' Opasno'', titled "Ušte Te Ima" and "Nekade Posle Dva", respectively. Mekić also competed in the 2008 Macedonian Eurovision qualifier, Skopje Fest 2008, with the song "Armija". North Macedonia In The Eurovision Song Contest
North Macedonia has been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 21 times since its official debut in . The country had attempted to participate in 1996, but failed to qualify from the audio-only qualifying round. The Macedonian participating broadcaster in the contest is the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT). Prior to 2019, North Macedonia's best result was a twelfth place finish with " Ninanajna" performed by Elena Risteska in . Vlatko Ilievski (; 2 July 1985 – 6 July 2018) was a Macedonian pop rock singer and actor. He was the runner-up to be the Macedonian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 and represented FYR Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song " Rusinka" in Düsseldorf, Germany. He was previously a member of the rock band "Moral". He was a student of acting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Skopje, where he graduated in 2010 with the drama "Anger" from Stephen King (The Rage). Altuna Sejdiu (; ; born 14 July 1985), also known professionally as Tuna (), is a Macedonian-Albanian singer and songwriter. Life and career Altuna Sejdiu was born on 14 July 1985 into an Albanian family in the city of Skopje, then part of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, present North Macedonia. Her father, Shaban Sejdiu, is a freestyle wrestler and two-time Olympic bronze medal winner. Tuna discovered her passion for music at an early age participating in various music festivals. Grigor Koprov (; born September 30, 1943, Ohrid, Kingdom of Bulgaria) is a Macedonian pop music composer, who also had an important impact on the Yugoslav music scene. Risto Samardžiev
Risto Samardžiev (; born 17 August 1964 in Skopje) is a North Macedonia, Macedonian singer and songwriter. He started his musical career when he was 16 years old. He formed the Cilindar group in 1981, which was one of the first New wave music, New Wave rock bands in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia. He was also the frontman of New Romantic group Haos in Laos. In 1987 he was invited to perform on MakFest, the largest music festival in the country. The song he performed, Čili Vili (Чили Вили) then became a hit in Macedonia.
