Rishon LeZion ( , "First to Zion") is a city in Israel, located along the central Israeli coastal plain south of Tel Aviv. It is part of the Gush Dan metropolitan area. Maccabi Rishon LeZion () is a professional handball club from the city of Rishon LeZion, Israel. They compete in the Israeli Handball League, within the Israeli first division. History Maccabi Rishon Lezion was founded in 1950 by Danny Reingold, Mishka Davidson, Mena Davidson, Prof. Arnon Sofer and Motella Rosenstein. He won his first championship in 1959. In 1964, the club disbanded for one season and was re-established a season later. The team's biggest achievement in the European Cups was on its first appearance there in 1983 when it reached the EHF Cup Winners' Cup semifinal, losing to the Spanish team FC Barcelona. Diana Vaisman (or Weissman, ; , born 23 July 1998) is a Belarusian-born Israeli track and field athlete and sprinter. She holds the Israeli national record in the 100 metre sprint. Early and personal life Vaisman was born in Minsk, Belarus, to Irena and Vladimir Vaisman. Her family immigrated to Israel with her, when she was two years old. They reside in Ashkelon, Israel. Her mother Irina Vaisman is a former athlete and a current coach, and coaches her as does Irina Lenskiy. Vaisman's family is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. The shortest common outdoor running distance, the dash is one of the most popular and prestigious events in the sport of athletics. Irina Lenskiy (; born 12 June 1971) is a Ukrainian-born Israeli athlete who specializes in the 100 metres hurdles. Personal life She is of Jewish background, and was a Ukrainian citizen, known as Irina Lenskaya, until 1999 when she emigrated to Israel. She also held the surname Omelchenko for a period. The 100 metres hurdles, or 100-meter hurdles, is a track and field event run mainly by women (the male counterpart is the 110 metres hurdles). For the race, ten hurdles of a height of are placed along a straight course of . The first hurdle is placed after a run-up of 13 metres from the starting line. The next 9 hurdles are set at a distance of 8.5 metres from each other, and the home stretch from the last hurdle to the finish line is 10.5 metres long. The hurdles are set up so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner, but weighted so this is disadvantageous.
