Macao Giant Panda Pavilion
The Macao Giant Panda Pavilion (; ) is a zoo in Seac Pai Van Park, Coloane, Macau. The Panda Pavilion is a nature park containing multiple animal species ranging from gibbons, flamingos, monkeys, and of course the famous pandas. Admission is free to see the animals. Architecture The pavilion is shaped like a giant fan in an area of 3,000 m2. It consists of indoor activity quarters, outdoor yard and indoor exhibition area. Facilities The pavilion is equipped with gift shop. Coloane ( Chinese: 路環, Portuguese: ''Coloane'') is the southernmost area in Macau, connected to Taipa through the area known as Cotai, which is largely built from reclaimed land. Known as “''Lou Wan''” in Cantonese, Coloane forms the southern part of Macau. Its population consists of several settlements dotted around the parish, such as Vila de Coloane (Coloane Village), Hac Sa, Ká-Hó, and Cheoc Van. Administratively, the boundaries of the traditional civil parish () of São Francisco Xavier are coterminous with that of Coloane. The giant panda (''Ailuropoda melanoleuca''), also known as the panda bear or simply panda, is a bear species endemic to China. It is characterised by its white coat with black patches around the eyes, ears, legs and shoulders. Its body is rotund; adult individuals weigh and are typically long. It is sexually dimorphic, with males being typically 10 to 20% larger than females. A thumb is visible on its forepaw, which helps in holding bamboo in place for feeding. It has large molar teeth and expanded temporal fossa to meet its dietary requirements. It can digest starch and is mostly herbivorous with a diet consisting almost entirely of bamboo and bamboo shoots.
