Mabrook Dreidi Ben El Mekki (Arabic: مبروك دريدي) is an Algerian writer and academic, born in Sétif on 2 May 1978. He has written articles, criticism and novels. He is a professor of Arabic literature at Setif 1 University. Biography Mabrook Dreidi was born on 2 May 1978 in Sétif in northeastern Algeria. He entered primary education in 1984/1985. In 1990 he moved to the preparatory level, and in 1993 he moved to the secondary level to obtain a baccalaureate degree in the Arts and Humanities Branch. Tayeb Salih ( ar, الطيب صالح, aṭ-Ṭayyib Ṣāliḥ; 12 July 1929 – 18 February 2009) was a Sudanese writer, cultural journalist for the BBC Arabic programme as well as for Arabic journals, and a staff member of UNESCO. He is best known for his novel ''Season of Migration to the North'', considered to be one of the most important novels in Arabic literature. His novels and short stories have been translated into English and more than a dozen other languages. Algerian Arabic (natively known as Dziria) is a dialect derived from the form of Arabic spoken in northern Algeria. It belongs to the Maghrebi Arabic language continuum and is partially mutually intelligible with Tunisian and Moroccan. Like other varieties of Maghrebi Arabic, Algerian has a mostly Semitic vocabulary. It contains Berber, Punic and Latin (African Romance) influences and has numerous loanwords from French, Andalusian Arabic, Ottoman Turkish and Spanish. Sétif ( ar, سطيف, ber, Sṭif) is the capital of the Sétif Province in Algeria. It is one of the most important cities of eastern Algeria and the country as a whole, since it is considered the trade capital of the country. It is an inner city, situated in the eastern side of Algeria, at 270 kilometers east of Algiers, at 131 km west of Constantine, in the Hautes Plaines region south of Béjaia and Jijel.
